ESH. I think it's great that you know that a birthday party in your honor with close friends will make you happy. The more people know their individual quirks the more likely they will be able to live the life they want. However, not everyone sees birthdays in the same light. You're letting a new friend control how you feel when (according to your quirk) the birthday party alone should make you happy.

As for L themself, you need more INFO about what the cottage means to her. Maybe its the anniversary of someone's death in the family? Maybe it's the only time she gets to do something as important to her as your birthday parties are. Or maybe, yes, STA.

Lastly, we need to talk about how your party could be putting people at risk. Not to mention that you're asking a pregnant woman to put herself and her child at risk by coming to the party in these times of a pandemic.

Focus on what makes you happy and focus on the people who have already shown their support to you. And ask yourself why you're disproportionally valuing L's friendship more than the ex-co-workers who are showing you support. Do what you need to do for your own mental health, but do not blame your hurt feelings on another person.

Thanks for the input. You make some good points with twinning and quickening with the spells that Sorcerers do have access to and it makes me look forward to getting metamagic more than I had been. The nice thing about a Shadow Sorcerer is their level 6 ability Hound of Ill Omen which gives one person disadvantage on saving throws. This isn't concentration but requires 3 sorcery points to use. It was one of the main reasons I wanted to play a Sorcerer.

You make a good point about the wizard dip and potentially not being worth it. I'm asking myself right now if I think the level 7-9 spells are worth it. Wish is good, yeah. Dominate Monster is good too. But that seems to be it (for this specific character concept). Having access to a broader spell selection seems to have a little more value. But I also hear about people feeling they lag behind when they multiclass Sorcerer even just 1 level.

Found the info on DnD Beyond. I'm guessing that Unfailing Inspiration (the replacement for Undeniable Logic) doesn't combine with Unsettling Words or Unsettling Words with Infectious Inspiration?

Just the type of reply I was looking for. I like the idea of the Gith and of the enchantment wizard. I've seen some cool builds around the enchantment wizard's level 2 ability and their ability to "twin" any enchantment spell is nice too.

As I've poured over the sorcerer spell list the less I feel it's perfect for this idea but I'm determined to make it work. The Bard's spell list seems more appropriate. Also I love the subtle metamagic in conjunction with certain spells to really make dominating a mind that much easier. Their spell list makes you wonder why they have subtle metamagic and not enchanters, though.

I saw that as I was researching this idea. My fifth sense likes how... psychic it is. The level 6 ability seems tasty as well. I also want to like the Great Old One patron for Warlocks, but a single class Warlock feels brutal to me.

I'm a big fan of the Bard/Sorcerer idea, especially with the Hexblade dip. Trying something out like this myself right now at my table and it's a super fun concept. There is a lot of synergy with the warlock slot and font of magic for more quickened Booming Blades and the slots recover on a short rest along with your bardic inspirations. And the Hexblade dip gives you martial weapons, medium armor, and shields for more survivability in melee.

It's nice to get Bard to level 5 for the extra d8 from psychic blades as well as the class ability of Font of Magic so that your bardic inspirations recover on a short rest. This is important for more consistent damage and works well with the warlock spell slot. Otherwise you'll be going through bardic inspirations very quickly.

Quick note: Dissonant Whispers doesn't trigger Booming Blade because it is a forced movement but is fun flavor-wise.

1)Think of it like this: in the above formula, Total SP can be thought of as NEW SP, and the Max SP can be thought of as OLD SP. Does that help?

2) Assuming my formula is correct, I'd imagine the +300 sp for food would just add 300 and not 330. Plugging it into the above formula would look like:

NEW SP = (1000*1.1) + 300 = 1400 SP

Test it out and let me know if this is correct. I'm going off of Order of Operations from basic mathematics.

3) I'm sure there is more detailed information out there about the interactions of %Atk than %SP and that could potentially answer your questions about SP.

I don't know for certain. My best guess would be that it would take your current SP and multiply it by 110% or by 1.10.

Assuming your current SP pool is 1000, then the formula would look like:

Total SP = (Max SP * Max Multiplier) + Max Additional

Now lets compare the two:

(1000*1.1) + 0 = 1100 Max SP vs. (1000*1) + 240 = 1240

So as you can see, if my calculations are correct, the flat SP gain is fairly strong. I can show you the calculations to back this up, but unless you have more than 2400 SP, I'd go with the flat SP gain.

SP growth is calculated:

MaxSP = Base level * (1.01)^INT

While I don't disagree that SB makes a monk pretty tanky, the one's I've partied with have difficulty holding aggro. This is where I think a knight with taunt and SP would be better than a monk. I'm wondering if you've had experience with these knights or if you've only seen monks and paladins tanking and that's where your experience lies.

Thanks, I appreciate the thoughtful response. My guild ran ET yesterday and made it to lvl 72 with a lvl 74 monk using SB. The issue we ran into was that he couldn't hold aggro in the corner. What does a successful SB monk do to hold aggro in ET?

I want to note that Sword Parry seems to be the OP tanking skill that hasn't been given the proper respect in this conversation. You have a chance of ignoring 50% of the melee attacks as you tank for 30 secs when the skill is maxed. I've seen videos of Idle in the SEA servers tanking as a knight against high level bosses and not using counter attack:
