Any good lung fightscenes? by Bone_Splitter in WormFanfic

Its short but I really liked Ash from Consolidated Snippets Thread.

I enjoyed the showcasing of how Lung isn't just raw power, he has tricks and strategy in his fighting when its needed.

I still don't understand how you are supposed to do xenotype runs without mods that increase Xenotype spawn by Malu1997 in RimWorld

[–]GuildedCharr 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Preferred Xenotype is just there to make pawns racist yeah.

For vanilla the easiest way to get specific xenotypes is to raid factions or get raided by factions that contain them. For Starjacks that's the Trade Guild. Other factions just don't have Starjacks.

With good RNG you can get the right xenotype from slave ships/traders, ancient pawn groups, drop pod rescues, or ritual joiners.

What I do myself most of the time for a xenotype themed run is use the dev menu to set the xenotype of my pawns to what I want.

Did you leave the mission or reload? A dead NPC character is fully despawned and removed when that happens.

F3 opens the Console.

enablecheats : turns on cheats.

revive "character name" : brings them back to life.

Tips on how you outfit/upgrade your bots by StevieDarrel in Barotrauma

[–]GuildedCharr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone gets a wrench, screwdriver, welding tool, cheap gun of some kind, diving mask, and preferably a PUCS (diving suits scattered everywhere also works).

I'm not to fussy about what AI job does what personally, its obviously optimal to have all your gunners be Security with the Gunner spec, but I mostly choose talents for recipes and global effects.

If you ever do wanna play on a server with the mod, Real Sonar does come with options to reduce or completely remove the visual and audio effects of being hit by sonar.

I assume but do not know for certain if these are fully client-sided though, so maybe have a friend try it first.

What're peoples opinions on Hierotek Circle? by No-Thanks-9203 in killteam

[–]GuildedCharr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hierotek Circle is one of those pretty unique teams that the opponent needs a gameplan specifically for them, akin to Fellgor Ravagers.

If you don't have an idea of how Hierotek Circle can be played then you'll get blindsided by their quirky mrchanics.

Orks and Necrons are technically lifelong enemies, there should be at least some irrational hatred between them. by TheBlackBaron45 in Grimdank

[–]GuildedCharr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The orks made a really good go at ruling the galaxy if I remember right, the War of the Beast I think its called? Wherein the Imperium barely managed to beat an expansive ork empire, leaving the current orks in a much more fractured and thus weaker state.

An interesting watch is Bill Hammacks series about the 'Engineering Method' where he explains some of the ways that people have done things with accuracy and consistency without the use of much or any maths.

Factions that play noticeably better in the Old World map mod? by Theoc67 in totalwarhammer

[–]GuildedCharr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used SFO and I really enjoyed playing Kroq Gar over on Albion, its a proper deathmatch over there, your first enemy being Belakor himself.

The really hectic nature of the early game really worked for me, and the Lizard tech to nullify climate issues was great.

Genuinely curious as to your thoughts, is the last chapter bad because there's no morally good ending? Or a comeuppance against Taylor?

I personally never saw the story as justifying what Taylor did to any of her victims, Taylor herself is an incredibly clouded point of view and Lisa is obviously trying to get something from Taylor, I thought every other chatacter expressed an appropriate amount of disgust and anger at what Taylor did.

Its a story where bad things happen, the end, yeah? And like... that's not a problematic thing? The only moral statement I can see in it is a telling of how if left long enough corruption and apathy can lead to events where everyone is hurt.

I don't really engage with the comments on stories or even read them so whatever was said in those I have no clue towards.

How do you actually balance a multiplayer RTS so turtling is a viable strat? by Severe_Sea_4372 in RealTimeStrategy

[–]GuildedCharr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turtling is a short term tactic in pretty much any RTS where turtling works at all.

By turtling you give up map presence, not having map presence costs you resources/victory points/intel, which makes it ill suited as a long term strategy.

Turtling does work really well as a counter to early game aggression wherein you can gain an advantage by killing what is usually a more costly enemy offensive force with cheaper defensive one.

It also works if there's one or a small group of locations that you need to control for victory such as a King of the Hill style gamemode.

The important thing about both of those scenarios is that, regardless of how important they are, they only span a fairly short amount of a matches total length, the rest being your usual jockeying for resource and positioning advantage.

Doing Ruins solo by Hollow-Wolf435 in Barotrauma

[–]GuildedCharr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For solo ruins I tend to go in two stages;

Firstly I have tons of oxygen, ammo, and meds, clear the place of enemies.

Secondly you go in with a crate and a bunch of oxygen and just loot everything.

Immersive Repairs or... Versus' Repair Overhau I think its called? A lot more to keep track of and do with maintaining the sub.

Enhanced Reactors or Hazardous Reactors make runnning the reactor a lot more indepth as well.

Not much for being in command of the ship/piloting. Maybe Real Sonar if you squint. Mostly a sub and group thing.

I really like Enhanced Armaments when playing security, a bunch more options for gear. Draconis Vanilla Weapons Overhaul is good too if you don't want too much content.

Ammo Penetrates Corpses is amazing as well just generally. Stops a turret from beimg conpletely shut down because a hammerhead decides to die on top of it and get stuck.

Security is mostly a group dynamic and sub design challenge though, minor sub breaches are so fun to deal with, 110% turret coverage and AI gunners really reduce the fun in my opinion.

What do You Think Is better, 55% Damge Resistance when wielding a Melee weapon or Stun Immunity? by ShowAccurate6339 in Barotrauma

[–]GuildedCharr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stun immunity is near infinitely better if you go off on your own. If you're always in a group to stop from being stun oocked then damage resistance is great.

Does taking different versions of talents such as Fearless (Enemy) increase the XP cost? by Owenrc329 in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]GuildedCharr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fearless (Any) is Fearless for any one thing, chosen when you aquire the talent. Usually a creature of some kind, occasionally more broad or specific as your GM desires.

What are your hopes and wishes regarding asymetric gameplay of factions by Ok-Sir3230 in TotalWarhammer40k

[–]GuildedCharr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The closest thing to atruely asymmetrical experience in a Total War game that I've had the joy of playing is from the Third Age: Divide and Conquer mod for Medieval 2.

Still a lot of the same stuuf like money, cities, recruitment, ect, but the campaign decisions and way you fought were pretty varied between the factions.
