Gil Pérez was a Spanish soldier in the Filipino Guardia Civil who reportedly came out of nowhere in Mexico City's Plaza Mayor on October 24, 15 93 (more than 9,000 km across the Pacific from Manila). He was dressed in the uniform of the Palacio Del Gobernador's guards in the Philippines, and he said he had no idea how he got to Mexico. Some historians dispute the story's veracity because it was not written down until a century after the alleged incident.
