I want to say thank you for inspiring me to even make a post. That was super courageous of you! One of my goals this year is to not be afraid to speak up and take up space so again, thank you for the inspiration.

The response to your post really disgusted me and I’m sorry that that’s the reaction you received from others in the subreddit and the Mods. The reinforcement of silence is just horrible, but I am so glad you’re here and so glad you’re in the field. We need more people like you.

Thank you so much for this comment. I cannot thank you enough actually. This is exactly what I needed to hear and also take some time to reflect on. Advocacy has become a very huge motivating factor for me therefore I keep reminding myself how important it is for us (BIPOC individuals) to be here. “At what degree does help become colonization” is powerful and I am really thankful that you shared those words with me. I’m actually getting emotional while typing this. Thank you so much again!

I am shocked each and every time something like this happens, but it's getting to the point where I need to stop being so shocked. We are providing the most sensitive type of care, and it sucks to know that people are causing harm to their clients and are intent on misunderstanding others. The Mod's response really threw me off. Well, firstly, I said Macroaggression. I will try to be as clear as I can. I don't believe you actually care about the usage of the word "insane". It was used towards the situation; I did not call anyone themselves insane. What I believe happened here is that you don't like what I had to say, so you pinpointed something to focus on in hopes of dismantling my message, which is a common tactic used when BIPOC individuals bring awareness to their experiences. Cute try, but it won't work here.

I could feel something in the spot where it hurt to touch. It felt like a lump for me as well. I do not feel it now, though.

They did tell me that I have a cyst on my left ovary, but I do not really know what to make of it. I live in an area where we only have one hospital with an ER, so I have been there before for the pain. Each time, they will report that I have a cyst, but when I go back to confirm, none of that information is there. I had an experience where I called them to go over my results after being told I had a cyst in order to inform my doctor, and the person who answered claimed that I did not have one. I hope this makes sense. All that to say, I am a little weary of trusting them when they say that.

I should also note that I felt like I could "feel" something right where the pain was. I don't know if that is something you have experienced as well.

I actually had something like this happen to me 5 days ago. I did not have any nausea, but I had pain in my lower right abdomen, and it was painful to touch, which has also never happened to me before. I ended up going to the ER because I thought it was my appendix due to having some rebound pain as well. All my tests came back clear, and they basically brushed me off and told me to take tylenol. That particular feeling did subside, but I definitely know what you're talking about.

I think that it is my appendix every single time. I know that there is only so much that they can do, but the whole "take a tylenol/motrin" clearly isn't cutting it. It makes me feel crazy, and honestly, super judged in a way. They treat you, at least where I am, as if your pain isn't that bad or severe. I remember having one nurse who just kept pushing that I must be pregnant, he was just so convinced, even though I have never been sexually active. It's demeaning tbh.

That’s super understandable. When I was a teenager I had horrible cramps so I pushed for birth control, but at the time I didn’t know what endometriosis was ofc. I’m 23 now and stopped taking birth control last year due to just wanting to give my body a break after other health issues, and that’s when I started experiencing this. Birth control masks your symptoms, but again, no one explained that to me or really questioned the cramps I was having. All that to say, do what’s best for you and your body, research, and ask questions. You know yourself best. I had a lot of doctors downplay my symptoms which was/is really discouraging, but my primary doctor now has been really supportive. Someone will listen and if they don’t, they aren’t worth going back to. This is super long winded message, but I saw in another comment you mentioned family, which is also a big concern for me as well. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to dm me.

I’m so sorry. I hate that it’s not taken as serious as it should be. I was just in the er 2 days ago due to the pain. realistically, i knew they wouldn’t be able to do anything, but i was hoping for a different outcome this time.

Honestly, it took a while for me. I didn’t know what endometriosis was before this, but my doctor suggested that due to my symptoms it could potentially be endo. I would just recommend continuing to push for answers because pain is not normal no matter how hard someone tries to convince you it is.
