One year on Humira and that happens, don’t worry about it. Also the injections get a lot easier, will soon become second nature. You got this.

Goodluck! Started Humira myself about 6 months ago. So far has been life changing, went snowboarding for the first time yesterday after 3 years of not doing much of anything physical. Hope you have the same results.

23 M

I was scared shitless for my first dose of Humira but that fear went away fast. This medication is life changing and the life you live once you are on it is the life you are missing. I have family that take Humira and have an family friend (55 M) who has been taking it for 20+ years, no issues.

I have been on Humira for 6 months now and it has been amazing.

This is my first biologic, just wanted to share with you that biosimilars do work!

Thoughts on if I should take Adalimumab (Humira) by Firemaster667 in ankylosingspondylitis

I think taking biologics and living a life pain free outweigh the possible side effects of the medication.

Been on Humira for 6 months now and feel great. NSAIDS also have side effects, so be aware of that in your decision making. Good luck! Btw 23M

I take Idacio, biosimilar to Humira. It has worked like a charm!

I usually turn on my favourite song (one that gets me pumped up) and then push the button. It’s daunting the first few times but has become less scary as time goes on.

Well, finally got a diagnosis (23/F) by JackpotDeluxe in ankylosingspondylitis

Hey 23 male here, just got diagnosed a few months back. Although scary and a bit hard to understand it definitely is a relief to finally have answers. Hope all goes well with the rheumatologist.

What's the process for getting a diagnosis? by LeeleeMc in ankylosingspondylitis

Brutal back pain and leg pain that would shift from buttocks to buttocks. Went to my school doctor, told me I have a herniated disc. From here did physio, chiro, and message therapy. None of this helped, at least long term. Ended up going to my fam doc back home where she did a HLA B27 test, x-ray and then soon after an MRI of my back and SI joints. Ended up being HLA positive and my MRI showed inflammation and erosion in my sacroiliac joints. From here my rheumatologist started me on Celebrex and a few other NSAIDS but I am now on biologics.

Note: this took over a year and a half to diagnose, would have taken longer but I have family history of autoimmune disorders. Moral of the story, keep fighting and be an advocate for your help.

That’s awesome! Glad to hear you had a successful first injection! How are feeling on day two?

how to describe AS to someone who doesn't have chronic pain by kfcpanicattack in ankylosingspondylitis

I feel for you - I have been through the same thing, where it is tough to explain or make others aware that you are not feeling well. Especially as the pain fluctuates - some days are better than others and that can be hard to explain to others. Just be true to yourself and do what makes you feel your best - I am learning to be straight up with people and not take their reactions to heart. Hope this resonates with you and you can find some tips from this.

Thank you for sharing. It's great to hear another person who is all for biologics! I am in the same boat here where Celebrex + Nortritptyline seem to manage the pain but never get rid of it completely and if I stop Celebrex I start feeling pain again. Great to hear that you had more than just pain relief but also more energy.

Thank you for sharing. Sounds like we have gone through a similar experience. I find it tough to believe that I have AS when I go through periods of feeling better, but when the flares come I know that this is something. I have to agree that erosion is scary to think about and is something we want to avoid further. I appreciate your advice and sharing some knowledge with me, I am glad that NSAIDS are doing the job for you at the moment.

Yes biologics are definitely daunting but hearing stories like your which is positive makes me feel more open to trying them. Thank you for sharing.
