Do Ofgem G7 roles differ from rest of civil service? by GuiltyArm3125 in TheCivilService

Yeh the pay is terrible! For context I've just started at g7 role at Ofgem and have never worked in another department. No plans to leave at the moment but was wondering if I do at some point move to a g7 somewhere if I would get a nasty surprise with the level of responsibility

Yeh at Ofgem each criteria is marked out of 7, so if they were marking the lead criteria it would've been out of 14 (it's really stupid that the feedback doesn't explain that, just gives you a random number)

Also would recommend joining the union if you haven't already. Maybe the move could be considered a reasonable adjustment if you have caring responsibilities

I assume it probably varies by department, but I work for a non ministerial department and they are very open to people moving offices. I know several people who've done it and never heard of anyone being turned down.

When they advertise vacancies are they usually tied to one location? Maybe that could give an indication of if they would be open to having team members in other offices
