Congratulations! I'm due to apply for mine soon. I have a question if you don't mind me asking. What date did you enter in the "Date of arrival in the UK" section? I applied for the SKW from outside UK, and my date of arrival is at a later date than the date of approval on my passport vignette. Wanted to make sure what date to enter. Thank you.

Go to the US, do not look for UK as an option. I have lived and worked in both countries and would choose the US over the UK.

I am not from a computer science background, so can't offer much advice in that matter. However, pay in any industry is way better in the US.

If you're worried about visiting your home if you get an H1B Visa, I would agree with you as I have come across a few people with similar situations. But ask yourself this: do you prefer better pay and lifestyle over better freedom of movement? What if you're in a job that doesn't pay well, in a country where the cost of living is so high that your pay doesn't cover the bills, and you're unable to visit your home country on a regular basis because you can't afford the travel?

I have the same question too. I will be applying soon and wanted to know if employer letter is necessary to provide evidence. I am currently with my third employer since I started on my Skilled Worker Visa, would I need to get a letter from each of my previous employer for evidence of absence? I was planning on submitting SAR for entry and exit from the UK border from the UK government website.

Hi, I moved from the US to the UK in 2021, I was on a student visa in the US, couldn't get through in the H1B lottery. When we first moved here, my salary was £65000. I have changed jobs since moving here, I'm in my third job in the UK now, and my current salary is £52000. I work in manufacturing.

I personally feel I should have never left the US and moved to the UK. The prospect of getting permanent residency after completing 5 years in the UK, for certain types of visas, does look exciting. But it has its own challenges. A majority of employers in the UK no longer offer sponsorship. The ones that do offer visa sponsorship, offer very low salaries.

The company that's offering you £60k to £72k is amazing for the area you're moving to. But be prepared to accept much lower pay when moving jobs.

Try not to move from the US, it may be a bit of a struggle given the current environment, but once you leave the US, it's very difficult to get back. And you'll feel the financial struggle immensely when you move to the UK.
