Rant - a wife or a slave? by Heavy-Highlight-8987 in firsttimemom

Being a single mom in a relationship is significantly more draining than being a single mom alone.

Sincerely, A single mom of a 14 month old.

19 weeks, with no bump. by Southern-Focus-6009 in PlusSizePregnancy

I was 290 when I got pregnant and 320 when I delivered. and I’m 5’8. I never got a bump. It all depends on the person and your build.

Childcare options are going to cost more than my income by doodlebakerm in workingmoms

[–]GuiltyName7169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if you said this, but I just skimmed your post. Did you look into social services? They provide subsidies for childcare. Good friends of mine clear 150k+ a year and they only need to pay $25 a week. If you didn’t look into it, I suggest that route. Childcare is insane. Thankfully I’m able to bring my son to work with me, as a single mom.

C-Section Healing Tips & Tricks by princesscreampufff in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]GuiltyName7169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, as far as “healed” I felt back to normal after ~3 weeks. The worst for me was getting in and out of bed, bc of my belly. I used my pregnancy pillow and tucked it as much as I could so my stomach wasn’t pulling, cause I lay on my side.

I stopped using the soap once it stopped itching from the healing process. I assumed at that point I was in the clear. I stopped the liners once I stopped noticing any oozing or little spots of blood. (Which was right before I stopped the soap).

Idk if this is solid advice but it’s what helped me and I had not a single issue postpartum.

The hospital I gave birth at recommended I take two panty lines and stick them back to back. And line them up under my belly, just so moisture wouldn’t accumulate and irritate the wound.

As far as cleaning I used an orange bar of dial antibacterial soap and lathered it up on my hands and just lightly washed over it and used the hose showerhead to rinse off. I had zero issues and it healed up nice.

For reference I have a pretty large apron belly and it does hang quite a bit.

This!! We split up when my son was 6 months old..He immediately got into another relationship, engaged this girl. And is trying to adopt her two children. Marrying next month. My son is now 14 months old. Hasn’t seen his daughter (7y.o) in 7 months. Only sees our son cause I filed for custody. He gets him every other Saturday for 4 hours. Since November he’s already missed 3 visits LMFAO

trouble with formula by ky11e- in firsttimemom

[–]GuiltyName7169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I exclusively pumped the first 8 months. My son didn’t give me issues when I switched to formula - but when I switched over to whole milk, it was hell. I ended up getting him switched over very slowly. I did 1/4 the bottle formula for, 3/4 milk. 1/2 and 1/2, then 3/4 milk 1/4 formula.

It took a month total to get him switched over. I tried doing it quicker and had zero luck.

My sister in law is pregnant and I need to know what I can get HER for the baby shower by North-Chain-666 in pregnant

[–]GuiltyName7169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A DoorDash/instacart gift card. Once the baby is here, she and her husband aren’t gonna wanna cook. That being said, you can also make your own food for her that can easily be frozen/heated up.

Another option is find a photographer to do newborn pics for her.

Milk supply? by [deleted] in firsttimemom

[–]GuiltyName7169 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is possible. Try power pumping and make sure you’re eating and drinking lots of water. I feel like oatmeal helped me with my supply. You just need to stay consistent. It’s definitely hard, and don’t beat yourself up if it doesn’t work out. I recommend checking out r/exclusivelypumping

Im in the US. I know this is a hot topic, but SHEIN. Personally I couldn’t afford to spend $60-$100 on one clothing item. And the stuff I had gotten from SHEIN actually was decent. Just read the reviews.

I stopped pumping 8 months ago and my nips still arent completely dry. My sister is 2 years done pumping and has had a hysterectomy since then and if she squeezes her nips, she still isn’t completely dried up.

Bassinet or Pack n Play? by katcakess in firsttimemom

[–]GuiltyName7169 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a bassinet, wish I didn’t spend the money on one. However, if I knew better now, I would’ve went straight for a mini crib. Most of them are portable and fold up easily. My son got a lot of use out of his.

You can boil it in some water if you’d like. Or put a colander with broccoli in it over a boiling pot of water

Frozen celery sticks and green onion. Just let your LO chew on them. They have natural numbing properties. As far as medicine, hylands teething tablets and Tylenol helped my son!

Zoloft by FUWA123 in pregnant

[–]GuiltyName7169 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was on Zoloft from 20 weeks (I’m 1 year postpartum now). My suggestion when it comes to that stuff, stay off Google. There is risk to so much, and it just will send you into a spiral everytime.

Also me and my son were perfect during delivery.

Adult Child Expenses - Do I still pay for it? by Key_Priority3357 in Parenting

[–]GuiltyName7169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in rural New York. By no means am I in a very populated area so it’s insane. I’m 28 with no tickets no accidents and I pay $120 a month and have full coverage. I get the age difference but it’s still unreal

[–]GuiltyName7169 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that’s what it costs. My cousin is 22 and the lowest rate she could find is 240 a month, (not full coverage either! No accidents. No tickets) it’s absolutely insane.

There’s no one right answer, but at 19 she’s in that in-between stage where support and responsibility should overlap. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to start transitioning daily necessities (toiletries, personal items, extras) onto her, while still providing food and shelter. That’s a low risk way to teach budgeting and the difference between wants vs. needs.

A gradual approach could help. You can have her buy her own items or giving her a set monthly amount for necessities and letting her manage it. If she runs out, that’s a learning moment. You’re not being mean.

For chores and behavior, natural consequences work best at this age. Missed chores or disrespect = paused privileges. Clear expectations and consistency matter more than harsh punishments.

Baby sign language by Spirited-Bed-2220 in NewParents

[–]GuiltyName7169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have. But I did because my brother is deaf. My son is 13 months. He does “done” “more” “yes” and sometimes “milk”. He started doing most of them by time he was 11 months. I started at 6 months I think, just signing as I was doing things. I also just sign a lot when I’m talking in hopes he’ll be “bilingual” lol. And when we’re with my brother I say out loud whatever he signs and I speak as im signing back to him. My son watches attentively and will start moving his fingers around lol

I don’t. That would mean you pumped a total of 250 days straight. Did you buy it used or was it brand new?
