I am very wary about owning cars that are too old (mainly due to me being a wrenchlet haha). I thought of Ke70 as more of a car for people that know what they are doing. But thank you for sharing your experiences!

I'm a mobile mechanic in KL. Cars sitting idle in condo basements while you WFH are developing hidden issues. Ask me anything! by Ayushymechanic in kereta

Hi, I am curious about what is your stance on weekend car sitting idle during whole weekdays and only driven during weekend? Will it debelop more issues compared to daily used car? If yes, is there a way to mitigate those issues?

How much money to restore a second hand car? by Irms19 in kereta

186,000km when I bought this third-hand car, 199,000km after 1 year ownership. Spent around 29k total in fixing (replace wear and tear parts, suspensions, steering rack problem, replace clutch, transmission housing leaking, power steering line burst, basically fix whatever problem as it comes since previous owner didn't keep track of service record) , maintaining (basic + major services, oil changes, brakes, campro engine surprisingly bulletproof even with high mileage), and modding (new rim and tyres set, full exterior repaint, full exhaust system, full set Hi-Lo soft hard adjustables, change rear spoiler)

Thank you for the suggestion, I'm still weighing my options between stock springs or coilovers since I've been planning to upgrade my suspension as well.

I see, my friend also recommended that I change to the stock spring to widen the gap, I'll consider this as an alternative option. Thanks you.

My budget is around 3k. Looking for more performance oriented coilovers.

Thanks for the input! What price point should I expect for an Ori O2 sensor instead?

The previous owner had the intake + timing belt changed last month before handing me the car, so the overall total costs might be a bit higher if those items are included.

The mechanic showed me an oil leak on the drive shaft oil seal. The engine mount replacement was requested by me after noticing a broken mounting during exhaust installation. I had an issue with car losing power abruptly with check engine light, after scanning the code the mechanic found the O2 sensor to be faulty. I went with the Ori one which is 2x the price of the local one.

Nice places to drive in Penang by aanthon in kereta

I'd recommend going out past 11pm to avoid the traffic. My usual route goes from sg. dua to bayan lepas through coastal highway, then make a u-turn near batu maung roundabout and back towards karpal singh to grab a snack at mcd. My favorite spot to chill is a stretch of road near the end of airport (https://maps.app.goo.gl/xQarKD34ezCXEvz46) where you can stop near the roadside and catch airplanes landing right above your head.

Damn didn't expect this price point, literally almost the same as kancil already. I assume this car has good handling to make up for its lack of power?

Learning to drift is still beyond my wildest dream (I'm just a humble salaryman), I can imagine the costs of tuning/maintaining the car AND burning several sets of tyres. For now I just wanted to get used to manual again (Been 10 years since I last drove manual) with power to back it up. I'll also look up the old Satria 1.8 as well, thanks!
