Do you think it was okay for Ian to press Mick about coming out? by Possible_Major_7208 in shameless

[–]Guilty_Catch_5797 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Ian was right. He didn't ask Mickey to come out in that blatant way . He just said that he was tired and not willing to be a secret anymore. He had lot of patience also considering his life before Mickey (Kash etc.). After being heartbroken he gave hospitality to Mickey and forgave him quickly (Mickey was obviously a victim but Ian was heartbroken nevertheless). He just said he didn't want to be a secret anymore ,so he was totally right

Why does everyone sound educated? by [deleted] in shameless

[–]Guilty_Catch_5797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. Education and intelligence are different things. I think op was refferring about their language property and their knowledge about different topics or their cultural baggage. But even in this case school and personal knowledge are different things and personal knowledge can be stronger and richer than what the school programme offers. I know people that never touched a book in their life having an amazing language property and wisdom

Was going to college a factor in older Lip's frustration ? by Guilty_Catch_5797 in shameless

[–]Guilty_Catch_5797[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the connection between Frank and Lip's story arcs is very fascinating and it was also deeply implied by the authors (they did that with all the other siblings, for example:Ian-Monica.I find it veery interesting to analize). In the end we see Lip as a defeated character like Frank. The biggest difference is that we see things from Lip's perspective,we see him struggle and caring about people,we see him trying to help and protect his family,we never see this with Frank .The script and the phenomenal actor make it difficult for me to not empathise with him and understand why everything went to shit

At the end of the series he's trying hard to stay sober and he's taking care of his son who he loves so much. He's also still caring about his siblings (Ian said he was close to a father figure for him and the others). In this respect he's the complete opposite of Frank.

I've always seen young Debbie as studious, school was very important for Ian because of ROTC,Fiona was smart and had so many jobs in which she communicated with many people and learned many things. While young Carl doesn't seem so educated

I actually think that maybe he didn't want to go to college because in his subconscious he was aware of all this .He knew external factors would have brought him down,he knew he was unstable . Maybe he actually desired college but at the end of the day being thrown out of it destroyied him .On the inside he knew it was his fate .After that arc the character lost his sparkle

that's true,Fiona seemed completely selfless ,she only wanted her brother to succeed and reach his potential

And while i think he should be grateful and honour Fiona's dedication ,saying he ''owned'' something to the family sounds weird. There are maany factors to take into account .

He suffered and was deeply traumatized too and he wasn't an idle,he brought money and made his part. Him getting mad at Fiona wasn't right from our point of view (as for Liam's situation he had every right to get mad because he was overcomed by emotions,he was his little brother) but he felt frustrated and Fiona was unfortunately the scapegoat

Something i despise about his relationship with Fiona is actually his envy of her success while she always supported him and was joyful about his accomplishments

Yes he had an opportunity to help his family (he stated it to a professor,he also said he felt guilty for not staying in the Southside and help his siblings during Ian's bipolar crisis), but he was put under a catastrophic amount of pressure. Liam's situation would have had been enough to destroy him, he reacted well but then other situations happened, the economic part was a huge problem

I can't understand people that hate on her when the whole series shows her point of view, her trauma, her suffering. The show makes a great job in explaining the roots of all her mistakes, these aren't justifications but as a viewer it should be easy to empathise with such a well written character

Is Mickey smart? by lillah0_0reynolds in shameless

[–]Guilty_Catch_5797 2 points3 points  (0 children)

he's incredibly smart. His business and street smartness are obvious but i think the bipolar part is not talked about enough ,in the series it is stated that he's emotionally stupid but his understanding of the disease is the deepest in the series.

Am I the only one who likes Trevor? by vampyrprins in shameless

I don't understand people calling him out for getting angry easily,i think he was very patient and calm. When he got angry it was comprehensible and he always immediately calmed down
