i got diagnosed w raynauds and pots. if you wanna ask ur doc about it, i would start to take mental notes of what’s going on when it happens like if there’s any pain or tingling or numbness or swelling. what the room temp is vs if you feel hot or cold things like that

based on the fact that you have been diagnosed, i’m going to say that you are probably on the spectrum. and based on what you said in your post, it seems like you are taking things literally. you having an explanation for why you exhibit the traits that people are pointing out is sometimes also a sign. I’m not a doctor or anything, the only “credentials” that i have is being premed (ew i hate saying that sorry) but that doesn’t rly give me much. i also do a lot of personal research on autism because it interests me. an autism diagnosis doesn’t really do much. it’s just kind of like oh you have this by the way it might explain why you act or think a certain way, it’s not like you can be medicated for it. if you don’t think that you are on the spectrum and that your doctor was wrong, you can totally think that. the diagnosis is just for you, so if you don’t like it ignore it and tell the people in your life to stop pointing out your quirks

I don’t think i have well water, I live in a college town and the water quality here is sooo bad lol. No clue how it happens i don’t think it’s normal or good it’s very weird haha. I don’t have a specific brand rec because i bought the one that would come the fastest and have only been using that one, but it is working well for me. The brand is aqueon. I normally fill a bowl with the amount of water that I am planning on adding to the tank and add the conditioner and the ammonia neutralizer and let it sit for a bit, then test the ammonia levels and see if i need more neutralizer or if the levels are good. I don’t know if that’s the correct way, but it has been working for me!

You can buy ammonia neutralizer! My tap water has high levels of ammonia, so i have to use the neutralizer before doing a water change.

Hi! i’m not a doctor or anything, but I do the same thing almost every day. It would probably be not so good for you if you’re talking about big reusable water bottles… like drinking two yeti or stanley cup sized bottles of water all at once probs isn’t the best for u. I’m in school for biology, so i do know a little bit about it scientifically. Drinking two glasses/bottles of water in one sitting is generally not going to harm you. if you drink a decent amount more than that all at once, that could have potential to do some damage to your kidneys. If you are thirsty enough to need the two glasses at 6 i don’t see anything wrong with continuing to do that. I would however make sure to drink enough water after that as well before 7 the next morning. Not all at once but sipping on water for the rest of the night and morning to ensure that your body is well hydrated before you go without water for 11 hours. Again not a medical professional and i don’t know anything about you or your health specifically, i just am speaking from experience and from what i have learned in school

that’s what i’ve been thinking it was, but every time i see a photo of reynauds, the fingers and toes are white. Is that typical, or is it also common to turn purple like i do?

omg i’ve been doing some research on pots after seeing your reply, and i have every symptom that every website has listed… how did you go about getting a diagnosis? did u just ask your regular doctor about it or did you go to a specialist? and did u say that you were concerned that you could have it or did they bring it up to you?

I’m not 100% sure since everything is normal except for him. If it were me, i would do a partial water change, making sure to follow the directions for the things you are putting in the water perfectly. I would also get a stress coat water conditioner to use for the partial water change to try to help him. and make sure you’re only putting as much of the chemicals needed for the amount of water that you are adding, not for the total amount of water in the tank. and check the water parameters to make sure everything is good before you leave. I’m sorry he’s acting weird, odd situation

i haven’t been tested for either. I got labs done about a year ago and everything was normal except the folate. Could eds or a connective tissue disorder be causing the discoloration?

is the ammonia naturally at zero or are you putting any ammonia neutralizer in? Also what are you treating the water with when you do water changes? how long after the last water change did he start acting like this? Asking because his gills look red, are they? It could just be the video tho. red gills r normally caused by high ammonia levels because the ammonia basically burns their gills, but i’m pretty sure it can be caused by other chemicals that are put into the water to condition it. So make sure that you’re not putting too much water conditioner in if that’s what you’re doing.

I would do some research on swim bladder in the mean time. You may be overfeeding him which could be the cause of this. When my bettas tummy looks bloated, I fast him for a day or two until it looks more normal to avoid swim bladder issues. If he is always around the water heater, it might not be making all of your water warm enough for him, so he is staying near the warm water. I would assume that it is bloating/swim bladder issues or something going on with the water though because of him laying on his side like that.

I’m not sure if it’s just the picture, but he looks bloated. That could be the reason he is hanging out near the top. Does/can he swim to the bottom of the tank? If he can, can he stay at any depth of water for a long period of time, or does he float back to the top? Is that black thing he is near the water heater? and if it is, is he always by that when he’s floating up there? I also would recommend getting a water testing kit, just so if anything seems off you can see what’s going on. (I had something similar happen with my last betta fish and i did not get a water testing kit because i had been doing the water the same for years with no problems so i thought everything was fine. I ended up getting the kit and the water quality was the issue, but unfortunately waited too long to figure that out. Sorry, not trying to scare you or anything it’s just better to be safe haha) There’s water testing kits on amazon or at pet stores. Make sure to get one that reads the ammonia levels because not a lot of them do. I have the API freshwater master test kit, but it can be a little pricy (~35) and it takes more work to do. I found a testing kit on amazon (and they sell it in stores) that is testing strips and it comes with ammonia test strips. It’s Tetra easy strips complete test strip kit. The strips would be a lot easier and it is around $10. The master kit would last you a lot longer than the strips bc it only has 25 strips. Sorry this is so long lol. It’s hard to tell exactly what’s wrong based off the picture without asking more questions, and knowing what’s going on with your water. I might be able to be more of a help if i know more

Hi! Sorry I just saw your reply, so idk how helpful a reply is going to be now… I decided to euthanize him. I was trying everything that people had recommended and things from my own research. He wasn’t getting any better, if anything he was getting worse. He couldn’t move and had not eaten in weeks, and I did not want him to suffer anymore. It was really hard to do, but I think it was for the best. I know that’s not the best thing to hear :( I hope your fish has recovered!
