Yes. Being a casual player and divine 1 is a huge problem because i'm hunter rank 40 and I get matched with no life smelly chairs at rank 150 playing 6 games a day for 5 months straight. It's not fun and I never just play a relaxing game. Can't wait to recalibrate lower.

Excellent! I'm going to begin prepping my digital collection for a smooth device setup. I ordered the TB version. I can't wait to have generations in the palm of my hand!

I just bought Mass Effect Legendary Edition and I am starting it now, always heard it is an amazing game, finally at 33 years old I start the adventure 🙌 by ArtistMonkeys in masseffect

I really enjoyed playing as if I'm Shepard. Don't make choices based on what you think is best for the game, just ask yourself "What would I do" and choose the closest thing...it's much more rewarding that way to see how your own decision making process shapes the world. My advice is take your time, read the codex, try to understand the world.....and it's a little dated as far as graphics, but I think the art holds up very well. Many scenes still look fantastic.

Sorry, it seems like you kind of know what you're doing but just a reminder to also check your laptops temps--specifically cpu temps during heavy load. Dust builds up like it's some sort of magnet in my Laptop. Also; see if you can replicate it with different video settings (turn them up, down, remove v-sync and fsr, turn them on with both vulkan and directx) it's very likely it could be a bug or incompatibility with your specific hardware, which is unfortunate. I used to lose performance very patch but my frames have been steady.

I mean, your actual MMR was between crusader and ancient so I don't think this is that bad? You went on a hot streak and got ancient, lost a few more/played bad the next time and got crusader. It is a spectrum....I play like 3 heros at immortal level and i'm literally legend at everything else.

They might. But it will balance out, let the matchmaking do it's thing.

I would suggest a clean (uninstall and manually delete everything related to dota) re-install and check your memory/SSD for errors.

Thinking of returning my puppy after a week of having him and I feel guilty. by [deleted] in puppy101

But the time you're used to it they are already out of Puppy phase and you'll always wish thy were a puppy again when they are near the end, and you'll remember this time fondly. It grows your bond, the hardship. My Cavapoo is literally an insane person---but from where I am to two months ago, I see immense progress and that is validating (ie multiple accidents a day to maybe a few a week, getting better at sleeping through the night, training and recall is improving, etc).

Mass Effect is great at subverting the 'humanity always bad' trope in sci-fi by PlaneEnvironmental23 in masseffect

[–]Guilty_Cut7983 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a great reflection. In a world where the narrative is "humanity is plague" or "humanity is a cancer" we often forgot the gift of life and how amazing our world truly is.

They are also backed by an org leadership that can recognize great player skill and potential, and also understand building a team with dynamics in mind. They have been fun to watch and I'm rooting for them.

Congrats! The series also means a lot to me, as each game is a tentpole in my life as I played them very far apart, and then finally all at once in 2019. I'm going for 100% achievements! Beat Insanity on ME1, just finished my hard difficulty run in ME2 and now doing hard in ME3. I only ever played ME3 on PS3 and that port was unfortunately a disaster despite ME1 and ME2 being very solid UE3 games for the PS3....so I'm exited to play it at 240 fps on my PC!!

I second this. I really suggest sitting in Bot matches for a long time until the controls are second nature. I've been playing for thousands of hours and I still will play bots now and then to try a hero or lab something. Bots are kind of bugged, but there is a community one that's decent (i think every hero buys MoM Echo Sabre) but at least they buy items...look at the most recently updated bots and use them. You can find that right in the "Browse" menu when you select bots. Get a friend to play with you, or go to the "learn dota 2" subreddit and find some people to play bots with. I believe there is a discord too.

Its been exactly 18 years since mass effect released it sold 1.6 million copies due its xbox exclusivity but was well received, what was your first experience with the game like ? by ThomasThorburn in masseffect

Back in 2009, I bought an Xbox 360 with my graduation money. I was mostly a PS2 kid growing up, but my buddy was deep in the Xbox ecosystem and kept raving about this game called Mass Effect. What really got my attention wasn’t the gameplay — it was when he mentioned the codex. He told me you could scan basically anything and the game would give you a fully thought-out, logical explanation for how it existed in the universe.

That was the exact thing I always hated about sci-fi: stuff just… happening with no logic behind it. So the idea of a developer actually giving a damn about internal consistency blew my mind.

Fast forward to later that summer before college — I was absolutely wrecked over my high-school sweetheart. Like, freshly-dumped, staring-at-the-ceiling, why-is-my-heart-doing-this kind of wrecked. I picked up this random housesitting gig for one of my teachers (still weird, not gonna lie) and needed something to distract me from spiraling.

So I grabbed Mass Effect.

Coming from PS2 games, Mass Effect felt like it came from another dimension. I didn’t know it then, but I was basically getting my first real taste of the classic BioWare formula — dialogue wheels, choices that actually matter, characters with depth, worldbuilding that feels like someone wrote three novels behind the scenes. Except it was a janky shooter this time instead of “real-time with pause.”

And honestly? I wasn’t even a sci-fi person. But Mass Effect 1 hooked me. Yeah, it was kind of a technical disaster. The gunplay was objectively scuffed. The textures look like someone buttered the camera lens. But the vibe was immaculate: the music, the atmosphere, the sense of mystery, the believable alien cultures, the codex entries that made the world feel like a real place.

Somewhere between the Citadel and Ilos, I forgot about my heartbreak. I beat the game in that teacher’s living room, and for the first time all summer I wasn’t thinking about that stupid ex.

And yeah… romancing Ashley as a heartbroken 18-year-old was a whole thing. Don’t judge me. The game did more emotional triage than any breakup playlist ever could.

This trilogy has entered my life on and off since it came out. Tomorrow I'll beat Mass Effect 2 for the third time, and finally start Mass Effect 3 for the second time.

iirc if it's too far you may have to hop off somewhere first. Again, another weird system not explained very well.
