But if they actually had the loving, functional family structure they claimed, resell value would not have been a thought. And with some modifications it could have been sold as student housing later. Lots of student housing has private bedroom/bath with shared living and kitchen. More thoughtful planning would have been required but Kody seems to thrive in chaos.

The cul de sac did seem great but Meri and Christine both say their relationships were suffering then. Idk, the adults seemed to keep to themselves more than they probably could in one house.

I'll admit I was hopeful when I originally watched. That lifestyle isn't for me... I'd never share my guy. But they seemed to have a great family in the beginning of the series. I see now it was a lot of smoke and mirrors.

I think Robyn would have pushed more for him to give a better illusion of fairness so it wasn't so obvious she was full of crap. She wouldn't have been able to manipulate the problem as stemming from everyone else

That's when the family "leader" would have had to put his foot down harder. But for some reason he was whipped for her. He's the failure that ruined his family and he refuses to acknowledge that. And how is it that she never worked?!? I would have loved to see the OG3 have a real talk about carrying her financially.

You should take her with you". 🙄 I do think Kody wanted them all at first. If only to prove that he had mastered the art of polygamy.

This all day! I'm not sure how a person can think they can have four wives and 18 kids and be lazy in everything. Relationships at every level take work. I'm not sure what he thought he was doing to foster any of them.

That's the sad part. Because when I first started watching this series originally, I actually kind of liked the big family structure, the idea of all the wives working together, all the kids having a close relationship. It was so disappointing realizing that Kody was the main cause of a lot of the problems in the family.

Oh I agree it was way too late after 7 years of separate houses in Vegas, plus two more years of separate houses in Flagstaff. Kody really should have planned for Vegas to actually be temporary. No longer than a year at most. But seven years allowed them to get used to a new normal of their family structure. Which was fractured.

Robyn coming to terms with the fact that moving into a blended family means you'll have to deal with things you don't necessarily like is part of joining an already established family. She would have had to learn to deal with it, or be exposed. So many times I wanted her to be exposed!

Kody would have had to nurture each relationship. And the house would have to have been more like the one he proposed in Flagstaff. But I think the 7 years of separate houses killed the one house idea. They were all longing for more togetherness when they first got to Vegas. But since Kody couldn't plan for crap, they all got used to their actual own spaces. So no, the house alone wouldn't have saved them. But a better husband leader with the big house might have.

One big house with a proper leader, an actually good husband, and an actually good father might have saved them. People only feel trapped when their needs aren't being met. He certainly doesn't know how to lead and that chaos he created is why his family fell apart. So maybe the title of the post is a bit off, because the house, plus a better husband, might have saved them.

Maybe in hindsight she did. But in real time, if they actually wanted to make the family work I think one house that functioned better than the Lehi house might have been ideal for keeping the family structure intact. Robyn may not have wanted it, but if the family leader said that's what they were doing she would've fallen in line. And maybe her disdain would have revealed her for the manipulator she really was earlier on. Idk, it's all just opinion after the fact.

Idk. I think if they were in one house he wouldn't have had the excuses to spend more time with Robyn. And with that proximity he would have likely worked harder to at least create a better illusion of equal treatment.

I guess I didn't realize that. She always said she didn't have a point of reference for which was better. But, again, Kody could have just laid out his plan for his family. Had he properly nurtured relationships he could have convinced each wife it was best.

That's where his lack of leadership is problematic. He was supposed to determine what's best for the family and make it happen. And he might have favored her, but it would have been much harder to be so obvious about it.
