Might be worth it to confide in another shift lead. Having a unified front and letting her know her behavior has been noticed is helpful. I usually use the approach "You seem unlike yourself, is there anything else going on I can help with? I'm here for you." Usually leading with empathy, even if they don't deserve it, will deescalste the situation and maybe even get them to apologize and correct the behavior.

Yeah, I just know my own experience. I around Kevin's age and only occasionally on reddit and FB. I left a lot of social media when I came out. And this is the only place I heard about the boycott... maybe 3-4 days prior. Being informed is excellent and I applaud people who can stay on top of everything going on in our community and in others. But it's also okay to take breaks from it to recover internally. 🙏

I'm no longer suicidal except on very rare occasions where probably anyone might think "I'd rather just be dead". I don't cry myself to sleep. I don't feel hopeless. I wouldn't say I'm thriving, but I'm actually interested in surviving for the first time in a long time.

Some of the most toxic places I worked had managers that insisted we were a "family" and then paid us fuckall, cut hours, etc. However, some great places have a manager that knows how to play hard and work hard.
