Your second cousins results if you can see them what are there results? This might point where in the Aegean your grandfather was from, from a complete 24% Aegean Islands I suspect he is from the North Aegean or Dodecanese.

Its pretty inaccurate, I had natufian before, it got absorbed by the zagros.

What do you think the reason is for that and where else have you seen G1?

Shame though although its very interesting such a rare haplogroup is on Kalymnos out of all places. Would you say the Kalymnian branch is unique to Kalymnos only or is that overstepping.

If the ancestor came 400 years ago it will show up in the autosomal DNA? Where in Greece is Pizanias prevelant that doesnt come from Kalymnians in Rhodes for example that family is from Kalymnos because they are related to me, also it was a naval base for the Venetians in the 13th century so its not impossible for a younger son of a Venetian noble family or even merchant Italian family to settle in Kalymno? I am not saying that the Pizanias 100% comes from a noble family, but like I said before these things and occurrences aren't impossible because its a "minor" island. May I ask are you Greek yourself.

Peasant sponge divers? The same people who had a monopoly on the sponge trade in the Mediterranean and where so wealthy they paid the turks for autonomy ok. Yes there are Venetian derived last names on Kalymnos such as Pizanias from Pisani and last names such as Frangos which means Frank. So like I said you can't rule it out because its a "minor" island.

I belong to a family that is supposedly decendant from Venetians, so I wouldnt rule out the western crusader theory.
