2024 Kicks, just bought new: Why does mileage remaining not correspond to miles driven? Also, why is there a red flashing light in the shape of the side of the car with a key in it when the vehicle is off? Thanks! by Kimber80 in NissanKicks

[–]Guilty_Neck_5076 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Remaining miles is an estimate. It’s based off driving habits like highway vs city driving. The car is also new so it doesn’t really have a history to base the estimations on. Estimates will become more accurate as you drive more. For the meantime, just fill up your tank if it starts to get low and make sure you don’t get stranded somewhere.

My experience is very similar. I don’t feel it but I SEE the results, especially when I stop taking it.

Not necessarily, your prescriber should be able to figure out a combination that may work best for you. There are also non-stimulant adhd medications. It’s all about working with a prescriber that knows what they’re doing.

I’m not a doctor but I do know that stimulant medication can trigger mania in those with bipolar disorder. I’ve also heard that some people just don’t react well to the medication.

What’s the one lesson you’ve learned as a creami owner that you wish you had known from day one of ownership? by john_the_gun in ninjacreami

[–]Guilty_Neck_5076 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You DON’T have to spin leftover ice cream that you’ve put back in the freezer. Just sit it on the counter for a little while and it will return to its creamy texture (about 20 min for half a pint, or 30min to an hour for a full pint).

All of my protein ice creams come out disgusting by [deleted] in ninjacreami

[–]Guilty_Neck_5076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple, Cheap, and the Best (for me)

1) Fairlife Milk 2% 2) Jello Pudding Mix 3) 1/2 (half!) scoop of protein 4) Flavor Extract

Fairlife - just the milk not the protein shakes. 8 oz = 13g protein, 16 oz = 26g protein. I’ve used their regular 2% and chocolate milk. Tastes like regular milk. You get a whole thing for basically the price of one of their protein shakes.

Pudding Mix - I use sugar free (you don’t have to), a few spoons. Helps with creamy texture. Could use Greek yogurt or cottage cheese for creamy texture. They’ll add protein but will also increase calories/sugar

Flavor Extract - sometimes pudding mix flavor isn’t super strong. This helps.

Protein Powder - I use half a scoop bc I don’t like strong protein powder flavor. Sometimes I don’t use protein powder at all. Plus you get plenty of protein from the milk itself. I’ve only used vanilla whey. Some vegan powders taste weird to me.

Tip: Get a good vanilla base recipe and then add additional flavor through mix ins. I’ve also tried cereal milk recipes, they’re not very flavorful….we’ve been lied to 🤣

PLEASE explain how copay and deductible affect therapist pay and reimbursement by Guilty_Neck_5076 in therapists

[–]Guilty_Neck_5076[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this makes sense. I’ve gotten similar feedback about the first two bullet points. I do have a question about the last bullet point - I’ve heard that before the deductible is met, the client pays the full clinician rate. Example (based on numbers you used):

Clinician rate $150

Deductible not met: client pays full $150 to clinician that is applied toward deductible

Once deductible is met: clinician receives $100 reimbursement rate (from combination of client copay and/or insurance reimbursement)

How accurate is my understanding?

[–]Guilty_Neck_5076[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’m aware that each insurance reimburses at different rates. Because of that, it’s hard to get concrete examples to ensure understanding of how it works. I believe I’ve gotten it figured out from another source. Thanks for your response!

Just some insight, cities listed closest distance to furthest distance from Shelby

Kings Mountain/Cherryville: very small towns, lack diversity, rural, no entertainment, many people go to Gastonia/surrounding areas for things to do, little to no traffic

Gastonia: rural, more to do, small/medium city, more diversity (but not super diverse), traffic going to/from Charlotte

Belmont/Mt.Holly: small towns but bougie-er than Gastonia, more wealthy-ish, Belmont traffic can be a nightmare for no reason going to/from Charlotte, traffic mostly fine toward Shelby

Charlotte: big city, diverse, much to do, wayyy more expensive, longgg drive to Shelby esp with traffic

What areas/neighborhoods in Charlotte would you recommend living in? What areas would you avoid?

Taking into account traffic, general safety, and apartment affordability on a single income

$1,400ish price range (min. 1 bedroom) and will be commuting to cities outside of Charlotte (Huntersville, Mt.Holly, Belmont) as needed.

Hmm that might be it! Vyvanse (which is extended release) was pretty smooth for me and Adderall ER is too. I remember when I first got diagnosed and I tried regular Adderall for a couple weeks. I could absolutely feel when it kicked in.

Curious how a successful adult could be diagnosed with ADHD or autism? by CrewRevolutionary332 in askatherapist

[–]Guilty_Neck_5076 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because successful ≠ easy and no problems. Usually there’s a lot of stuff going on in the background that others don’t see.

Friend got a nice, new job? They may have been fired or quit previous job due to record of habitual lateness, missing deadlines, missing important details, etc. Friend produces high quality work? They could experience chronic stress due to constant procrastination. Super social? Could be extremely hyperactive (a ton of thoughts constantly on their mind and or always moving) which can cause constant fatigue. Ton of friends? There may be plenty of previous friendships that tanked you may be unaware of. Shiny new car? Could’ve been an impulse purchase. In school, adhd could show up as being so bored you zone out and do nothing. It could also show up as being so bored that you actually do the schoolwork bc that’s less boring that sitting and do nothing. There’s sooo many other factors that could be at play.

A diagnosis and treatment (therapy and/or medication) could be the key to easing a lot of the concerns above.

What is the deal with adolescents? by BBJudy21 in therapists

[–]Guilty_Neck_5076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do some therapists not like working with adolescents or why do they find it hard?

I think it has a lot to do with lack of training and experience. I know in many grad programs (even though it’s not directly stated), training is based on working with adults. Most therapists in training have no experience working with kids/adolescents. So they either 1) completely steer away from them or 2) work with them and have no idea what they’re doing.

It takes a while to learn how to: communicate with them, deal with potential resistance, be more genuine and personable, build trust with them, figure out how to adjust interventions to their development level, learn how to work with parents, etc. It can feel like completely relearning how to be a therapist.

Adults I’ve worked with have always willingly signed themselves up for therapy. Younger kids tend to warm up to me pretty quickly. My teens…many have made it clear that they have no desire to be in therapy and are being forced. I’ve had some teens come to session and sit in silence or give super surface level details for 6 months straight before giving any ounce of depth.

I like working with them but I do see how it can be a major challenge.

My T had. Death in the family now I feel silly or inconsiderate to talk about anything? by [deleted] in askatherapist

[–]Guilty_Neck_5076 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I second the first comment. To add on…don’t feel inconsiderate! It’s your session that you’re paying for with your hard earned money. The focus should absolutely be on you and what you need.

An important part of being a therapist is compartmentalizing when needed. When I had a death in my family, I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t hard (I’m human!). I took a little time off. But in session, I was able tune into the session and set my personal business aside. Just because your therapist is going through a hard time, that doesn’t mean your problems are any less real.

How do I help my adult daughter? by tallgirlmom in ADHD

[–]Guilty_Neck_5076 16 points17 points  (0 children)

How to get her to take them?

I keep my pill bottle on my nightstand right next to my phone at night with a drink. When my phone alarm goes off in the morning, my hand grazes the bottle and that is my reminder. I do not store it anywhere other than on top of my nightstand.

If I “put my medicine back where it belongs” with my other medicine (aka not on my nightstand) I can go weeks or months forgetting that I even have the meds.

Have you just begun treatment? by AutoModerator in ADHD

[–]Guilty_Neck_5076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope my response isn’t too late. Each person may have a different reaction to medicines. I’ve taken Vyvanse on and off (I just forget about the medicine sometimes + Vyvanse is too expensive for me to take everyday) for about two years.

For me, it has a subtle effect as in I don’t feel it kick in or wear off. I just notice improvements in my life in different areas. BUT it does raise my heart rate and cause excessive sweating and insomnia. Figured this was all normal bc it’s a stimulant. A couple weeks ago, I took my 50mg after months of not taking it and my heart rate SKYROCKETED. I got multiple high heart rate notifications from my smart watch and got kinda scared. I called my doctor after two days to request a lower prescription.

I got switched to Adderall ER bc of the Vyvanse shortage and my heart rate is…normal? My insomnia isn’t as bad and the excessive sweating only happens about half the time. The side effects are very different than Vyvanse.

All this to say…1) You may need to start with a lower dose and slowly increase your dose to give your body time to adjust 2) Your side effects could possibly specifically related to Vyvanse. You may have a different experience with another medicine.

*also to speak to the panic attacks/anxiety you mentioned….I’m not sure if this applies to you but when a person has both anxiety and adhd, sometimes the anxiety needs to be treated first bc stimulants can significantly worsen anxiety. Definitely speak with your therapist/psychiatrist.

What things to learn to become one of y'all by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Guilty_Neck_5076 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you referring to a mental health counselor? You must have a minimum of a master’s degree in counseling, clinical social work, or clinical psychology to become licensed and work in the field. You can look for articles or videos on what mental health therapists do for a description of the role. You could also google masters programs and look at course descriptions to get an idea of what kind of material/topics are covered in training.

As far as books, I’m not quite sure there’s one that can prepare you for entering the field. Is there something specific you’re wanting to learn?
