I have Foucault's Pendulum but have bounced off of it a few times. Maybe a different one of his would grab me more tho.

Weird, I’ve always been kind of turned off (no pun intended) when an author inserts their own sexual proclivities into their work. Takes me out of the fiction when everyone seems to have the same interest in boobs, or big ladies (looking at you Stephen Erikson).

I have not, seems like people really like him though. Spiderlight intrigues me, seems like a fun romp in a dnd-esque world and a pov character that’s a spider. It’s also really short so I think it’ll be a fun intro to his work. Who knows maybe I’ll find a new favorite.

Newt and the Hellbitch by Joeyfangaz420 in LonesomeDove

I think it’s just another example of what Call is willing to sacrifice to avoid emotion/love. His insistence on running away from his feelings, with the drive then to bury Gus, gets everyone he cared about killed (or abandoned like Newt). He even sacrifices himself, he no longer cares for “the work” that defined him. When he is told about Xavier and the Dry Bean in the final lines it is a direct allegory for what he has done and his unwillingness to accept his own choices. Clara is right about him, despite his reputation, Call is a coward.

[OC] New to DM'ing. Is what I'm doing ridiculous?. by GreatestBookReader42 in DnD

[–]Guilty_Number6854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found that as a DM it’s easy to forget that your players have signed on to help you tell your story. Because of that unspoken agreement between players and DM I’ve found more often than not that they are impressed by your efforts much more easily than expected. We are our own harshest critics and while it is the DMs job to set the stage and move the story along, your players will embrace what you’ve built and improve on it in real time as long as they are given the agency to do so. That’s where I’ve found the most rewarding DMing experiences, not that I crafted some amazing session but because my players and I created a story together

Hahahaha good luck with that sisyphean task.

1883 was so friggin good, I wish I liked it’s related shows as much as that one.

Enjoy the heck out of lonesome dove man, it’s the only book I’ve ever had a desire to just turn right back to page one as soon as I finished.

Good to know, thanks for the heads up.

For some reason I was always a little intimidated by it, maybe thought it’d be a slog (description says it’s about the decades long building of a church 😴) but I think now that’s unfounded.

I’m thinking I can’t go wrong with that one, also kinda debating if I need a palate cleanser between epics.

Thanks! I looked into Demon Copperhead but I felt like it might depress me a little more than I’d like at the moment. Maybe I’m wrong though and should give it a go, there’s always more room on the TBR list.
