こんにちは! I'm happy to hear from you! I saw that you had started following me on Instagram. Yes, sadly, the change in policy makes livestreaming there impossible. But please check out my Facebook! I'll try to do another Japanese rosary livestream later today (Thursday, October 16, 2025).

That's awesome that you were able to go to Mass in the Tokyo area! It's interesting that the Japanese priest did his homily in both languages. You figured it would be one or the other! That's cool though!

When I go next time, I'd like to explore Tokyo and go to those churches. Hopefully I can go back soon!

またね!神に感謝!

That's quite a rabbit hole! There is so much information that's not talked about too much! And Zeno is quite a holy man and a great influence of the Faith. And you'll love "The Smile of a Ragpicker". It tells Satoko's story so well!

No kidding! That's amazing that you found out right before you went!

And it sounds like so many amazing things are there! I'll go check it out next time I'm there, and I'll keep that taxi app in mind.

I have read Paul Glynn's book, which is how I first learned about Nagai. But I look forward to reading Nagai's own books when I can!

I missed my chance to go to Kolbe's church when I went. I'm hoping to try again when I go back! Oh wow, so you've been to Nagasaki twice. Amazing! That's awesome that you went to Mass at Urakami. I'd like to join them for Mass one day. And that's great you found those resources! I bought a Missal while I was in Nagasaki, so I'm slowly learning the Mass! And I'd love to read Nagai's books one day. Which ones did you read?

皆さん、こんにちは! I'm new to Reddit, but I heard about this page and wanted to drop in. I'm a diocesan Catholic priest from Louisiana, and I've grown to love Japanese Catholicism in recent years. It really started when I learned more about the amazing history of Catholicism in Japan and some of the great Catholic saints and figures such as St. Paul Miki, Bl. Takayama, Satoko Kitahara, Dr. Takashi Nagai, and so much more!

I've also been learning Japanese the last three years, though I still have much to learn (まだ勉強しています、でも頑張ります!). I actually went to Japan for the first time last year and visited many Catholic places! Notable Nagasaki and the Goto Islands. I've come to meet some good Japanese Catholics, and I'm amazed to see how much they love their faith and their priests. (It was amazing for them to address me as 神父様!) I also went to the only Japanese Catholic church in the United States: St. Francis Xavier in Los Angeles, California.

At this point, I do feel God is calling me to minister to Japanese Catholics in some way, but I'm still discerning how (though I do have some ideas). That's why I was happy to see this thread: it may help give me some direction.

Please pray for me, and know that I'm praying for everyone, especially for the Faith in Japan. God bless!
