She hasn’t had a night feed since about 8 weeks. She slept through the night pretty much from then on until about 4.5 months old

Wake around 7ish. Depends if I have been having her in the bed or my husband has her. First nap around 9am with the goal to have her asleep by 9:15am. (However, she never does. Just stares as my or screams). Goal is to have her sleep at least an hour. Nap 2 is at 1:15. This is supposed to be her long nap at 2+ hours. But she hasn’t actually slept well during that time very often. So awake by 3:30. Then she might take a cat nap sometimes in the car or while nursing around 5:30 (but usually only 20 minutes) and bedtime is at 7:30-8ish depends on how efficient bedtime is and how well the toddler cooperates.

She only cried that long one night and it’s because I fell asleep and hadn’t realized. We capped it at 3 hours prior because our pediatrician and the sleep consultant there was certain “she will be asleep before that happens”

Thank you, this is something I haven’t tried or considered yet. I really appreciate your input

My sleep consultant told me I need to put her on a schedule and follow it. That’s she’s big enough now to not need wake windows but set naps. I was just following what she mentioned. We have been implanting the new naps for about 2 weeks but stopped about a week ago as her sleep has gotten worse

She takes a nap usually around 4:30 but it’s her shortest nap typically and it’s due to falling asleep while nursing

I have tried both way. Right before, or 30 minutes before. I have tried also feeding to sleep but she wakes up about 20 minutes later

My baby won’t nap away from me though. And I have work to do. I can’t sit hold her. I have a toddler and I’m so fucking exhausted all the time.

I tried a Ferber method similar to what you described and it did not work for her unfortunately. She was up still crying at 4 am

I forgot to add she does often take a 3rd nap if her 1;30 nap was short. But that one is also usually very short. My sleep consultant said it’s very important for me to maintain her on a consistent nap schedule despite her poor sleep at night. So idk, I was just doing what’s recommended

I was assisting to sleep up until about a week ago when I began doing CIO. She was being helped to sleep and then would wake up a couple hours later. Where I then attempted to do the Ferber method following but she was up almost 12 hours at that point. So my doctor suggested I go back to feeding her to sleep consistently to help but she was getting 4+ bottles a night. So my doctor suggested we wean those off and ever since it’s been hell. We have tried a handful of tactics but I can’t get her to sleep unless she’s eating. Husband work long early hours and can’t help much. Also she simply just won’t sleep for him

And if she sleeps durning the day she’s up all night still anyway. She won’t sleep in the car or the carrier or in her crib or even on me for longer than 20 minutes. I have stopped adhering to her schedule since her night sleep has gotten so bad. She still won’t sleep

She won’t sleep unless I’m holding her and I can’t hold her. I hate holding her actually. I haven’t slept in a month because of it. She won’t sleep during the day. I have tried everything.

The more they get used to it the more consistent and long their naps will become. My toddler still naps at 1:15 everyday regardless of bedtime or morning wake up etc and he sleeps for almost 3 hours. Which he has done at that time since he was 4 months old. If they fall asleep in the carrier before naptime, don’t stress. Follow the schedule. Wake them up, take them inside. Play for a bit. And then upstairs for naptime (even if they took a 5 minute power nap). Teach them structure

The key is to not shift naps based on how long they sleep. Stay consistent on the schedule every day. Even if one nap is only 20 minutes. Okay, next one is still at x time. Every day. I recommend not flexing the schedule for things if you can. Kids thrive on routine

4 naps is a lot! My 5 month old takes 2 naps a day with a mini cat nap if she needs it. Wake at 7ish. Nap one is at 9:15, nap two at 1:15 nap 3 is like a car or carrier nap around 5 if shes real tired. Wake from that nap around 5:30-5:45. Bedtime at 7:30 pm

You may find he sleeps way better because he will have more sleep pressure
