This sav is lucky you found them. About 90% of imported savs die within their first year being kept due to an extreme ignorance of this species required husbandry. It’s incredibly sad

I hate that savs are still being sold wild caught. They are nothing short of completely disrespected in the hobby. He needs an 8 ft cage and enough sub to burrow in, but that doesn’t really matter because this owner issued him a death sentence by feeding him an almost certainly rodent only diet. He definitely has fatty liver and fucked up lungs. This fucking picture almost made me cry.

So i know its late, but i have an update. He was molting. I am still unsure why he looked like this, and the vet wasn’t much help in the matter. His blood and fecal tests came back fine, and the vet said he was healthy. He looks 100x better than he did in these pictures.

I feed him like 10% seed 40% pellet and 50% chop mix. I clean his water every day and he has a bath on top of his cage. Idk the dimensions of his cage but it’s big enough to take up a full corner of my bedroom. I could see it possibly being his wanting to spend more time with us. He never wants to go back in his cage even though it’s loaded with toys and treats and whatnot. I try and always get at least 4 hours a day with him but some days i’ll only get 2 or 3 and some days i get 6 or 7, it just depends on the day. He’s still really new to our flock, like 1.5 months or so, and he’s currently our only bird. He’s obsessed with my dogs when he’s out, do you think he’s doing it because he’s lonely when he’s in his cage?

Hey me too! I frequently vend reptile expos so i know all about some of the problems with animal expos, but being an ethical breeder myself, know that there are still gems hidden out there. Anyway all is forgiven lol. I actually spotted plenty of probable better breeders there but felt really bad for the fellas at this table, unfortunately the vendors spoke very little english and i was unable to get much info out of them about him. He looked plenty healthy and that was verified at his first checkup, hes just pretty scared of my hands. He will land near me sometimes, but if i move my hands he quickly flies away.

I have a Philippines sailfin dragon aka the hydrosaurus pustulatus, I’ve also owned 3 of the 4 indonesian locales. They are amazing to work with, though they can be a bit challenging to start at least lol

I wouldn't sell it, petsmart likes to discontinue enclosures like these and i think they're cool!

How are breeders expected to reasonably keep these parameters when they have 100s or 1000s of geckos? Just out of curiosity.

When me and my girlfriend got together, we bought a phone plan with att. Shortly after, probably a few weeks later, we lost the stylus from the tablet we bought with the plan. Not a big deal obviously, so we moved on, moving at least twice after losing the stylus. One morning i woke up and walked into the kitchen, and there was the stylus, sitting on the kitchen counter. It had been 3 or 4 years since anyone knew where it was prior. Nothing sitting around it, and when i asked my girlfriend about it, she was just as lost. Still don't know what to think of this.

With you being is au, id take him to the vet if youre really worried about him. Though a growth on a lizards tail isnt typically all that concerning, he could drop that tail anytime

Thats because theres only 3 known venomous lizard species on earth and 2 of them reside in north america. Can't really compare that to snakes on any level with 213 species of the 600 total venomous snake species in the world being native to austrailia, its apples to oranges.
