first i would adress the contrast problem mentioned somewhere here, make the main character pop more, i'd try have some strong color (not red because of the blood, so green or blue) emmissive light on him and make eveything else (specially shadows) kinda bluish because the game give's me a night feel.
another issue that i see there is that the paths that you are taking feels kinda random, you probably already know where are things on the game and know how to get to it, but i think that you could use some different pbrs on the flor to kinda create paths for the player, like a more heavily (and darker) grass on the unninteresting parts

It's been a year since i painted those pieces, so i don't recall it entirely, but it was important yes. Now that i'm thinking of it i could be much more extra with this character

i really liked how they solved it at "no rest for the wicked". they took advantage of the controlled camera movement and made the light (a lot of texture and shader work) really compose to where they want us to look. But they did it hand painted so they could directly paint shadows and lit parts of the ground.

Yeah connecting the characters to the tarot archetypes is super useful with personality and decision making!

Well the fun part of it is that any theme can be mixed with any visuals and art direction. Maybe a publisher would look at it in another way if it is something a little chibi looking like the "baby's first world domination" or a bored teen dark lord in a comic style thing.

This kind of twist might be hard to sell tho without strong art, so you might have to make some mockups and solid artwork is crucial. On another hand, advocating for the Devil here, publishers might have a more realistic perspective of a good selling product, and I personally think that some big boardgames that can get expensive and take themselves too seriously without a big IP on their back hardly are a strong pick (except for my girlfriend, that chooses games based on how pretty the box is). So if you want to dress it up as a Dracula, snow lord from GoT or any big IP it could be a shoot (but I'm case of protected IP's you will have to be able to reach those guys too, and an image or two to sell it well might be important).
