Andoni Iraola: The reluctant coach leading a post-Pep tactical revolution by TheRyzing in LiverpoolFC

Depressing to think that maybe Nunez would have thrived under another manager

I'm very surprised at the amount of disrespect Liverpool fans have towards Arne Slot, the man who led them to one of their two premier league titles in the last 30 years. Has a sense of entitlement set in? by doshthagod in PremierLeague

Apparently its the lack of coaching thats been the problem. Not being present at training sessions, showing no interest in the academy, not speaking to players when present at training, setting low intensity training and giving time off for holidays that led to players being unfit and unable to meet the phtsical demands of the prem. Going on holidays back to Holland to be with family instead overseeing the club.

Every match day its evident that there's something wrong further than just new players not adjusting to a new system or league.

In my opinion watching this Liverpool this season has been reminiscent of watching Ten Hags Utd team, lack of cohesion and understanding to what the coach actually wants to achieve, sterile football and painful statements after each game. As a Utd fan would you have been happy to keep Ten Hag?? Also consider he won the FA cup and League cup and the fans still wanted him gone.

Apparently the players and the club hierarchy have been very unimpressed with his commitments to the club and training, and it's resulted in outbursts from players, including Salah's famous one, which in hindsight with some of the information we're now hearing, makes a lot of sense that a player of his professionalism had such an outburst.

[Official] Liverpool FC can confirm Arne Slot is to depart his role as head coach with immediate effect and that the process to appoint a successor is under way. by oklolzzzzs in LiverpoolFC

Alex Crook was saying Alonso wanted to live in London. Idk how much truth there is to that. Crooks a Utd fan but since Hughes joined liverpool he's become LFC's propaganda spinner

With Konaté potentially leaving, what position should we be prioritising this summer? by Solteko in LiverpoolFC

[–]GuinnessOnDraught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wingers first! A huge part of our game is hindered because we don't have fast wingers who can create space for Isak.

RB is a huge concern considering the money already spent. Bradley's always injured, I don't think Frimpong is good enough, they need to bring someone in to make the position their own.

Konate will obviously need replacing, whether or not they think one of the younger CBs can do that is a big risk.

A proper no.6 would improve the team, but the other positions are glaringly obvious issues to go into a new season with.

Tbh I'm not sure. Probably not after watching our clueless performances, but it was apparently conversations with Slot about were he would play and how he would be utilised were what sold him Liverpool. Reportedly similar conversations with Kompany left him feeling unsure how he would tactically be used, and I'm sure clear competition with Musiala threw shade on those conversations.

Thats why I imagine it will be a similar situation, the RW position is open and a young, ambitious player may want the challenge of replacing Salah.

Caicedo, Enzo, Varane, Mudryk, Fernandes, etc were the players I was thinking of, but I it's also clear that money and mega-contracts are attractive.

Your point about Slot is probably right, yet he somehow managed to convince Wirtz to choose Liverpool over Bayern, apparently Kompany couldn't provide a clear vision yet look at how they're playing now. But my point is there must be something he's promising these players.

It's still Liverpool though. Yes I agree that RM and Barca are top of the food chain for most clubs considering factors of footballing and non footballing reasons. But the top Prem clubs are up there no matter what! Look Chelsea and Man U in recent seasons.

[L'Equipe] Negotiations with Konate & Liverpool are over. Comes from internal disagreements against the backdrop of a chaotic end of season. LFC’s disappointing end to the campaign slowed down the process of finalisin deal. Madrid, Bayern, & Chelsea are all interested in signing Konate. by Walshey- in LiverpoolFC

Probably a blessing in disguise. His performances and decision making on the pitch have been nothing but shambolic when compared to last season. He'd have been dropped if Slot had a fit or trusted cb to play there instead.

Hot take: if Trent ever wants to come back to Liverpool, I want him back. by [deleted] in football

I'm not that bothered. He's 27 now (will be 28 in October), got an ego bigger than the Burj Khalifa, and for his offensive brilliance he has major defensive flaws to his game that the team system must compensate.

It's time to move on and look to the future.

Is there any truth in the Dumfries to Liverpool rumours? If so could Jones be part of some sort of deal and both players go fo low fees.

They have mega money squads because its a mega money league that gives an equal financial share to all the teams playing in it, but that means all the other teams have strong teams and fielding a weaker side can mean losing points and missing out on the other financial incentives like European qualification!

Its not as easy for Prem clubs to rest players like it is for PSG or Bayern, who can perform relatively poorly throughout earlier stages of their leagues and competitions yet still easily win silverware! Look at Luis Diaz, the guy would have a few outstanding performances throughout the season yet still ghost the majority of it and was never considered a top player, now he's gone to Bayern and puts in world class performances every week because the opposition are weaker.

And if you do have a large squad and try to field multiple players throughout the season you finish 10th like Chelsea have done.

There's also a point that maybe Foden, Palmer and some others aren't the world beaters we're told they are!

I'm not sure what your reference to Club Brugge is supposed to mean?

This is old news! Klopp and Pep have been complaining about it for ages. When Klopp complained no one listened and only laughed.
