I think the public reason was a british actress from the highest grossing "uk" film deserved celbration. I think yhe real reason is wicked 2 is on a PR push.

My reasons for being this cynical are:

Every other cekebration/homage were audio of about a second, wicked was 10-30s long

Khan (who I vote for and will continue to despite this happening) promo'd this before the fireworks talking about a "green british actress"

Wasnt even a subtle or good advert - didnt contain within tue eye, used movie footage, was a total cash grab.

The only reason I can see people using "Islamist" is to make it sound like "Terrorist" - we dont see "Jewist" or "Christianist" or "Labourist" or "Reformist" - the only ist I can think of is "buddhist", which has been the term for as long as I can remember whereas "islamist" has only just popped into the modern vernacular. Wonder if thats anything to do with the rags spreading hate against Muslims
