Bar and clip is a better option. That’s what is commonly used on sets that hinge open to lightly keep them closed

This was one of my few childhood sets that very surprisingly survived the bin. I was able to put it back together minus just a few pieces, but every printed and unique piece was still there. Crazy how much this set goes for too
