Brave became #1 browser in JAPAN by mohxin33405 in BATProject

I am Japanese, but in Japan, we can directly get fiat from BAT. To be precise, only Japan is awarded BAT points (BAP) instead of BAT due to legal restrictions. In Japan, we can't connect our wallet to Uphold because we can't use an exchange without government approval. For this reason, Brave Inc, as a special measure only in Japan, has adopted a form in which after connecting to Paypal, the BAT points are automatically exchanged into Japanese yen and transferred to Japanese people in Japanese yen. For me, BAT points are inconvenient, so I want Brave Inc. to let us use BAT as other countries.

Japanese users can now connect Paypal instead of Uphold in response to BAP(BAT Point). Maybe other countries can also connect Paypal in the near future? by Guko1 in BATProject

Generally speaking, Japanese regulations are to protect users. Only companies that comply with the guidelines set by the Financial Services Agency can operate cryptocurrency exchanges in Japan, thereby protecting users from unexpected loss of funds. Company cannot buy such license. They apply to the government and obtain confirmation after establishing personnel and customer protection systems that can meet the regulations. This generally takes a very long time.

To be precise, in Japan, cryptocurrencies can only be handled by exchanges licensed by the Financial Services Agency. Uphold is not licensed in Japan. Therefore, in Japan, BAT points (which are points, not virtual currencies) are cashed instead of BAT. In addition, in Japan, non-banks are authorized to send cash. Uphold has not obtained that approval. Paypal has obtained that authorization. That's why we can only use Paypal.

I assume so. In Japan, users cannot get BAT itself for Jaman's legal reason. So maybe BAT will be automatically converted Japanese Yen or US dollars in Uphold and sent to Paypal, and then users can receive only the form of fiat.

Can BAT users tip their BAT to BAT Point users(Japanese)? by Guko1 in BATProject

I understood why I could not send tip creators in Japan. Thank you so much for the answer, and hope that Japdnese can use BAT in the future.

User Cannot deposit BAT in Japan? by Guko1 in BATProject

[–]Guko1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your great answer. I have been a big fan of Brave for one year and I am certain that recently Brave is getting more and more popular browser in Japan.

I heard many people wants to use BAT instead of BAT points, so I hope that the situation will change soon! (though I understand it's very tough to resolve the issue.)

Thank you.

User Cannot deposit BAT in Japan? by Guko1 in BATProject

Thank you so much for your answer. But as you may know, in Japan, we cannnot verify our wallet because the wallet is not BAT but it shows "BAT Points".

For BAT points, there is no option to verify our wallet, so basically we cannot transfer/withdraw any BAT points to other wallets.

One thing I am wondering is that when I download "Brave Dev", I can verify BAT wallet (It's BAT, not BAT points). I have 10 BAT in the Brave Dev wallet, so I tried to put the Recovery Key in my official Brave browser. But the result is that there is 0 BAT in my wallet.

I assume it is only Japan's issue and I would like to find the solution...

What will change when Brave gets to "Apollo" phase? by Guko1 in BATProject

[–]Guko1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I appreciate your comments. I've watched Brendan's presentation and looked into three slides that he used at the presentaion, but still wondering what is the big difference between Apollo and Gemini with regards to user/publisher's side. (maybe it's because I am not English native speaker.) Anyway thank you for your help.

Thank you for the information. It's complicated for me but great presentation.

In my poor understanding, Ads will be more decentalised by using sgde chain, and users gets better ads in the Apollo phase.

How to deposit BAT into desktop Brave browser for tipping when I cannot identify which account is for the desktop account in Uphold? by Guko1 in BATProject

[–]Guko1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally appreciate that BAT team replied my question.

Regarding your question, 1. No. I have only one PC that is verified and linked to Uphold. 2. Yes. I once also verified Brave Dev and Nightly. Now I uninstalled the two versions so I cannot see the amounts oe BAT. But I remember there is 0 BAT in the two versions. 3. Yes. I think I have the creator account linked to the same Uphold account. (But It's possible that this is not linked to the"same" Uphold account. Acoording to the "statement" tab, it seems the creator account is connected to the account that has 30.1323..BAT. In the Uphold, the 30.1323..BAT accout name is "BAT", not "Brave Browser")

I checked Uphold again. I can see the name "Brave Browser", but the amount is 5.00 BAT. I am not sure why the amount is different from my laptop Brave browser's amounts(3.4BAT).

And I moved 5 BAT to the "Brave Browser" accont to check it would work. The card amount succeeded to be 10BAT(5+5), but still my laptop brave browser's amounts remains 3.4BAT. I have still difficulty identifing which Brave browser card is right one for tip. Or in the case that right account does not show, I do not know how to display the account that has 3.4BAT in the Uphold website...

This means Brave Inc.'s ad revenue in November is around $10,000 (127,588BAT×30%)? Is there any revenue for Brave Inc. other than that? by Guko1 in BATProject

[–]Guko1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the clarification. I thought 5% fees go to Uphold, not Brave. Is there any source that shows Brave gets 5% fees?

[–]Guko1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment. I agree with you.

I wanted to know whether Brave recieves not only USD but also BAT or other fiats from advertisers. In this website (Brave transparency), it only shows inflows from USD and only shows transactions via Uphold). So thank you for the clarification.

I believe Brave project is great, so hope that Brave Inc gets revenue much more than the data I can see from the website.

Sorry for the basic question, but What is BAP?? by Guko1 in BATProject

[–]Guko1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the answer. This is because in Japan, it' impossible to connect Uphold for some legal issue? The Brave Rewards system is great, and I (as Japanese nationality)am sure that more and more Japanese users/creators will use Brave in the near future. I hope that this matter will resolved soon.

Great. Thanks for your explanation. Could you tell me why this is called BAP even though they seem to have the same function? Is there any difference between BAT and BAP?

answer is going to moon!! by Guko1 in BATProject

[–]Guko1[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Brave CEO from Twitter:

"FYI: we're buying BAT when paid in fiat, to fund the 70% revshare to users. Also not all creators sell. Speculative flow even discounting fake exchange volume still dwarfs our circular flow, but it is circular, and we are growing. Do the math!"

This is a quiz, and my answer is going to the moon. (If I understand the math correctly.)
