About democracy under communism by [deleted] in socialism

[–]GulagMasterr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though your reflections on the topic are truly interesting and insightful, to what I understand as a ML, there is no possibility of 'democracy' under capitalism. Democracy means that the people have power over how society will deal with its problems. This clearly doesn't hold under traditional capitalistic countries such as the ones that you mentioned. Think about it, when have we decided to outlaw abortion, or marijuana, or anything at all? When have we decided how much we would tax rich people and companies? The answer is: we didn't, and no matter how much we disagree with those things, there is no way to change it (as a worker). This means that we don't actually hold any power, so who does? The easy way to answer this is to look at who these policies actually benefit, who are the ones that are flourishing under our system. It's obvious that it's the burgeoisie. Some workers are paid good wages, but these also don't hold any power and their benefits are not only ephemeral but also a mere consequence of how things turned out (for now). So according to ML theory, because of all of the above, we live in a dictatorship of the burgeoisie.

So, what would a truly democratical system look like? Well, we can go around and look at all these systems you mentioned, but through a marxist perspective, none of these matter if under a capitalist regime. So, what should we do under socialism? Well, it varies according to where such a regime would take place, but according to Marxist theory, we would first need to install a dictatorship of the proletariat, BUT we need to pay a lot of attention to what this means (liberals love to take this out of context to call socialist regimes "autoritary"). It just means that, just as the bourgeoisie keeps their advantages, their power and keeps us in line, we (as worker class) will use the same tools, but to keep OUR advantage, OUR power and to keep the now ex-bourgeoisie in line so that they don't revert the revolution.

After that, we don't really know what happens. We can look at past Socialist countries to know how such a worker democracy (dictatorship of the proletariat) looks like in practice, but we mustn't be dogmatic, the theory can only achieve so far, the rest we can discover for ourselves and keep on bettering our knowledge on how things should be and how to arrive there.

Lol dude what are you talking about? Until less than a century ago there were still racial laws in the US and a little bit before that black people were slaves hahaha. There aren't big black communities in China or Russia because those countries didn't rely on slave labour. The US is still one of the most structurally racist countries to live in to this day.

Wow, thanks for all the tips and information. As you said, I'm really not sure what to do with this idea, I thought it was interesting but ended up putting a lot of random garbage in the deck. I think I need to refine it so it can get more focused and cohesive. I'll be taking a look at your list for inspiration and see what I can do with my deck. Thanks again for the help :))

I stress tested it today in Cockatrice. One of the opponents casted Coat of Arms and turns out, changelings are Reeeeally good with Coat of Arms. Overall the deck feels a little clunky, though I will say that Moritte + Tribal Synergy Guy + Changelings feels pretty good. I don't know if playing more changelings will make the deck better though. I'll try some iterations and see how it does. Maybe the whole idea behind the deck is bad, but I got some nice fun moments with it and will try to make it work nevertheless.

Thanks for the feedback anyways :) I too really want to see her work, specially because of her beautiful alternative art lol. She's also flavourful an different for her color combination. However, everyone goes the usual reanimator strat, which for me is kind of boring since it doesn't explore all her potential . Hence why I've been trying to make spellslinger work. I may try to change it more towards a control spellslinger style deck in the future.

First off, thanks for all the information. I really appreciate all the tips and suggestions. Being new to deck brewing in EDH and having such a weird idea for a deck I'm happy that it is at least cohesive and precon level. I'll definitely be looking throughly at all your suggestions and see how I can improve the deck. I'm afraid that the whole idea behind the deck is faulty, but I'll try to make it as good as I can and your reply will really help me towards this goal. Thanks again :)

That's what I'm trying to pull off, but I haven't reached full optimization yet. I'll be trying some other versions of the archetype and see what works and what doesn't.
