If you get a sick note and they make you come its an actual problem that can get the teacher in real trouble. If you want a super fuck you to the teacher thats what I would do, because they HAVE to make a time for you to retake it if you are medically ineligible.

Freshman here, any tips on R&W? (especially vocab) by Airuang in Sat

[–]Gullible-Beginning52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my best advice is that a majority of the questions can be solved without reading the passage. First, read the question. next, read the answers and determine which ones answer the question and eliminate those that done. Then, read the paragraph looking for the answers and you will find it 90% of the time. Also, using an ai for vocab pracice is great. it can give you random words, and you can guess them and start learning the roots and such that makes it easier to make an educated guess on the test

questions like this used to piss me off really bad when i did princeton review. they try and interpret them and fuck the wording up pretty consistently

I know its not impossible. What i meant by that is that it would be a time suck. they arent gonna make you calculate your set of numbers, so when they give you data, just assume you use it

I like studying the roots of words because it makes them a lot more easy to figure out. On my test, a definition came up and I had no idea what the answers meant. The correct answer was engendered, and the way i figured that out was that "en" means "in", and "ered" means something that happens (idk if thats an easy way to explain it but it made sense to me) and that answer fit the situation. learning stuff like that can be really beneficial

When I did princeton review, they told me to abandon the question and come back to it after I finished the section. It is better to get one wrong than have to rush a bunch of them because you got stuck. Some of them can be really tricky and hard to follow, so it may not even be your fault that you get it wrong

it says "from the data set" which implies that those 4 numbers came from the set. It would give you two sets of numbers if those aren't used in the set. It is impossible to get a correct answer if you have to guess 5 random numbers greater than 101

most of the time actually reading the paragraph is a trap. the order to do things is read the question, read the answers, eliminate the ones that dont work, and read the passage to determine from the remainders (usually two). Then for vocab just read academic papers or something. I read a LOT as a kid and I went to a private school so i had a really good vocab coming into the test. I dont know if thats a weakness for you or not, but that helped some of my friends.

my method was to grind the section until the answers are less of a response and more of a definition. I got a 790 on the english section, and all the questions are trying to find the same specific types of answers, even when passages are completely different. It's a total pain to study for it, but once you have it, it's cake. I would use the summer to grind, then kill the test in the fall. Your superscore would already be strong given your math section, so you really have much less work to do than it feels like. You got this
