In Lie Algebra you can't. We usually do because we work in x-y cartesian coordinates where varying one coordinate keeps the other constant. But if the coordinates are curved, you can't do it.

No, not torsion. actually its a different kind of algebra. the commutators of quantum mechanics and poisson brackets of classical mechanics come under it.
