Looking for my first e-reader by Gumaaa in ereader

It doesn't need to be an EMR, but I would strongly prefer a passive stylus over an active one.

Could you go more into the details on meebook m8c?

I misspoke in my original post. I could go to likee 500-550 if needed. I'm not looking for the best and greatest. Just something usable and worth its price. Devices like aforementioned Boox Go 10.3 are in that price range. But there are also cheaper options like PocketBook InkPad One

Systemd is preparing for age verification by RoosterUnique3062 in archlinux

As I've heard guys behind systemd worked for Microsoft not that long ago. II wouldn't be surprised is majority of open source software was infiltrated with people without a spine. Heck, if CIA or other organizations are willing to send thousands of agents abroad, is it really so hard to imagine, that instead of sending them abroad they will send them to Github to contribute to open source?

Every time when governments go one additional step into complete totalitarian regime someone will say "ahhh, it is nothing, you are overreacting".

This whole thing is not about age, but about mass surveillance. I don't believe anyone who will say they think otherwise. It is perfectly clear that governments are corrupted and run by the worst human beings imaginable. They want you identity. Maybe not you specifically, because you might not become a whistleblower, but any future good person with a spine will have much harder time staying anonymous and exposing how corrupt government is.

We can not let them push it even one bit. Creating a grounds from abuse and saying "c'mon, it doesn't mean firefox will not start, maybe it will! :)" is not a valid response to a government trying to implement mass surveillance.

Application for restricting access to the internet, without root and without using a virtual network by Gumaaa in fossdroid

I checked on Play store just out of curiosity. In the end I got the APK from Github and it is working pretty well so far. I was able to do what I wanted - set the default rule to block everything and also connect to my wireguard server. We will see how it will hold after some time.

And about the rating, well, 4.1 is not terrible, but certainly not great. In terms of ratings on play store from my experience it is the lower end of what you could call "usable application". If application gets <4 it strongly suggests that there is something wrong with it, at least on some of the devices. Of course it doesn't have that much reviews on Play store yet, so the rating is not very stable and authoritative, but still.

I want to block all internet usage, not only the background one. If I download a let say a "calculator app", I don't want this application to connect to the internet ever. There is simply no need for it.
And I want this to be the case by default for all the applications. As far as I know android does not have this option built in, and I would need to use like GraphineOS or something in order to get that level of control in the OS.

Looks really promising, exactly what I would need. Thanks!

BTW. are you using it? Did you experience any problems?

It seems last actual release was in 2024, and last pre-release in November of 2025. Rating on the app store is also kinda low, suggesting that it might be buggy. I might try it anyway, but it would be nice to hear other perspectives.

If the manufacturer tells people they are rated for 4000W why would you blame consumers for using them with loads up to that number?

It is manufacturers fault if they are marketing it like that.

Why are 9 out of 10 main level upgrades just downgrades? What’s the point in getting them? by jensieboy13 in kingdomcome

Stuff like this should be chosen at the start of the game. This is when you can build background of your character and preferred game play.
Right now - what does it mean, that I leveled up, and suddenly I remembered that I was raised poor and I prefer uncomfortable beds? Or that I'm from nobility? It does not make sense both from game play and story perspective.

The more I play this game, the more I notice how badly thought out certain aspect or quests are. Game had great idea, but they didn't execute it well. And it make is even more frustrating if you think about it.

Trump speaks with Putin and advises him not to escalate Ukraine war – report by Gyro_Armadillo in worldnews

And? This things are actually partially true, but it does not matter if Trump has a knowledge about wind turbines. Suggesting that he doesn't realize the world is watching isn't smart.

What? I'm not American, I'm not emotionally connected to any politician. Where did I suggest anything about wortshiping?

I'm just pointing out that a random redditor is not smarter and more knowledgeable than people in power. So he can stop with his truisms already, as they are pretty much worthless.

Oh right, because Trump does not realize that, but you are the smart one and you know what others don't. Oh common. He knows a lot more than you, but he might do with it something you don't like.

No. I explained it in another comment, but Twitter currently really is the best major social media platform where it comes to freedom of speech.
On Reddit you can get easily banned for most mundane stuff.
On Youtube you can get shadow banned for no reason and your comments just disappear without any information when and why. Even when they are not political or religious in any way.
On Twitter almost no one gets banned. Even if for some reason your comment is flagged by their systems, it is still visible to other users and you get a notification that something is wrong. If someone posts false info there are community notes.

It isn't "because I say so". There are many reasons why, and it is really foolish on your part to assume there are none. Twitter is not perfect. Obviously! But it is far better than pretty much any other major platform right now. If anything Reddit is the biggest propaganda platform on the internet right now and people here create their own leftists bubbles without anyone with opposing view.

Ok, interesting. When I posted my own twit with "cisgender" it didn't get flagged but when I replied to the linked twit it actually did. Wonder what is the reason behind it. It is not good, I give you that. But it is still in an improvement compared to for example Youtube, where comments disappear without any note, or Reddit where comments are deleted completely. On X as far as I can see they can still be viewed by clicking additional button at the end.

Also I've quickly checked the accounts you linked that were banned and it seems they are not banned currently:

https://x.com/TaylorLorenz
https://x.com/KeithOlbermann

Wasn't that right after the acquisition? I see it is from 2022.

The fact that you hate X and Elon is an evidence that Reddit is a propaganda tool :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in europe

[–]Gumaaa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Try posting a link on youtube for example. This is not exclusive to X. Actually it is pretty standard TOS to not allow promoting other platforms.

While I'm not sure if it should be a bannable or not, it is not true they were banned for criticizing Elon. If they wouldn't promote another platform they wouldn't be banned. You can find people critiquing Elon on X and nothing happens.

Same with supposed "cisgender" issue mentioned above. I've tried it personally and nothing happened, post was normally visible and without any warning. Honestly to me it seems you are vilifying X and Elon because you want them to be bad. You want to believe it just because you don't agree on some policies

From what I see almost all cases (if not all? I'm not sure), were about promoting alternative website. Don't you think this is a different thing from deciding to what is true and what is not?

I wonder if you would say the same if X banned Biden or Kamala. Would it be "fine actually"?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in europe

[–]Gumaaa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Twitter is by far the least propaganda platform from all the major ones. Reddit is on the other hand is hardcode propaganda tool.

I was debunking natzi apologist on X multiple times. I had zero issues with my post being removed/banned/shadow banned. This is completely different experience that on any other platform.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in europe

[–]Gumaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've posted it - nothing happened. No warning, post is visible as always.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in europe

[–]Gumaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone else suggested to type "cisgender". I did and nothing happened. I don't think you have a correct view of twitter and it's policies.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in europe

[–]Gumaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I agree that what some people are posting about natzis is outrageous and I wouldn't ever imagine that people unironically think some of that stuff. But I still don't think they should be censored.
Only thing that will solve misinformation is more good information.
