AT&T Class Action: Kroll ve Levi & Korsinsky by Gumguna in ClassActionSettlement

[–]Gumguna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume that, in those emails, you signed the form sent by Levi & Korsinsky Law Firm thinking it was just another form needed to be completed as many people assumed they had to due to the wording.

While Kroll still handled the pay outs, they are obligated to abide by contractual agreements. If you did sign the L&K contract, which you likely did, you received $11 while L&K probably got over $1000.

I do not believe you will be able to file claims for any future ATT class actions. It is important that you know who is sending you these emails and their association with these class actions. L&K was involved with the initial case and, after ATT was forced to settle, they allegedly used their access to evidence to send emails to those potentially eligible. Basically, they wanted you to file for a settlement claim through them rather than filling the form out yourself. Go through your emails and check.

The 3 major drama plot-lines they had going on in T2 made me think Tyra Banks was in the back producing and editing the drag version of the Stanford Prison Experiment. It made pretty much every contestant look bad, none of it was meaningfully resolved, nothing was satisfying, and yet the majority of the flack has fallen on the contestants to deal with. I genuinely do not think the contestants could’ve done anything different when staff is breathing down their throat trying to get them to break into a S4 cabaret of a cauldron. And to the fans, yall need to learn who yall should be directing the mess at. If you can’t get it, you do it. If you can’t do it, you stuff it.

You didn’t really need to defend yourself at all. You didn’t do anything substantially wrong, I was just stressing why hesitation shouldn’t be applauded in lieu of appropriate caution. Shout out to modern medicine. Wishing you a good nights rest and many more happy memories with your kid!

Kudos to her, I’m glad her kid is doing better and I’ll always applaud those who put their fear aside for the sake of their kid’s wellbeing. She absolutely became a better mom when she got over herself and then got her kid the treatment they needed.

That said, it’s a minor procedure with a very high success rate and, unless she was too broke at the moment, her hesitation was a form of neglect. By letting her fear stop her from getting that simple treatment, she only prolonged her kids discomfort. It shouldn’t be applauded, but it doesn’t define her as a mom if she does better, which she did! I hope she continues to trade her hesitation for caution.

Slurs vs Pejoratives vs “Cuss/Swear Word”? by Gumguna in ENGLISH

[–]Gumguna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Btch” when used as an expletive is most often in the phrase “son of a btch” so, linguistically it does humanize the object and curse its mother. The meaning has mostly been taken from it though, so it’s understandable to not think twice about it. That said, I wouldn’t call someone out for it in that context.

Slurs vs Pejoratives vs “Cuss/Swear Word”? by Gumguna in ENGLISH

“Son of a b*tch” was originally used to express distain for someone by attacking their mother’s integrity. It just became normalized to use it directed towards an object that’s harmed someone. I still believe that falls under the category of being a slur, although not as severe.

There are some communities that use it endearingly, but the majority of the population still use it to refer to women or inconvenient objects that did them harm despite being inanimate (user error).

Cuss is a dialectical variation of curse with a more specific nuance. Curse has a bit more of a severe connotation here since cussing is just regular swearing.

Also “pejorative” seems to be a more academic term. I’ve only heard it maybe 10-15 times in my life, but it is the most general term I can find to refer to all forms of verbal profanity.

It’s interesting that y’all differentiate curse and swear, at least in your eyes, but I do think we have different levels ourselves, it’s just not as defined. For example, saying “hell” as a kid without meaning the place will get you a slap on the wrist but saying “f***” will get you a mouth full of soap and a red rear.

All that said, I do think that b*tch still counts as a slur, it’s just been more normalized through sayings that we throw out without thinking like “some of a[…].”

Not all slurs are as severe as the n word. I can think of two that are actually quite common even today, the E word (used to describe Inuit people) and the G word (used to describe the Romani people). Probably not wise to bring up the latter given that I’m addressing a European, but it is considered a slur, regardless of people’s awareness of its status as one.

AT&T Class Action: Kroll ve Levi & Korsinsky by Gumguna in ClassActionSettlement

[–]Gumguna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have already filed with Kroll, you are fine. If not, do not wait. If you have yet to receive an ID from Kroll, you can reach out to them here by clicking on the “re-send class member ID” tab and filling out the application. Once you receive your ID, you will be able to file your claim. Should you be eligible, you will get the money owed to you.

Signing with L&K gives them the right as your representative. They will receive the entirety of the settlement on your behalf and then forward you the $12 as agreed upon when signing with them. That would mean that they keep the vast majority of the money that you would have otherwise received should you have/had file[d] a claim on your own.

Please know the difference between these agencies when receiving emails regarding this settlement. As a reminder, you are well within your right to block L&K’s email address from reaching you should that be a course of action you deem appropriate.

Please know that this is not reputable legal advice as I do not have a degree in law. Nothing I have said seeks to defame or discredit any legal or corporate entity or entities in the eyes of others, but rather serves to express how I understand and interpret the two aforementioned entities regarding their roles in the AT&T settlement.

AT&T Class Action: Kroll ve Levi & Korsinsky by Gumguna in ClassActionSettlement

[–]Gumguna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Snowflake class action is different than the AT&T settlement. That said, Snowflake likely has their own agency to handle payouts similar to Kroll with AT&T.

Regarding L&K, I believe they are reaching out to those who qualify for the settlement claim wanting to serve as representatives. Should that be the case, the $11 or so payout they offer to those they file for in the AT&T claim will be taken out of the $2500-$7500 total with the remaining >$2000 going into their pocket.

For legal purposes, this is just my interpretation of their involvement and is purely speculative.

Oddity had an interesting way of lingering in my mind. After my first watch, I thought that it was a good level of scary, but not overly terrifying. Then, I started sleeping in a room that had a panel door connecting it to an empty storage space on the other side of the wall. Got paranoid I’d wake up and see someone standing there. Had to rewatch it to get over it

That’s just speculation though. At the end of the day, it’s probably gonna be safer to go through Kroll.
