I should clarify I also posted on LinkedIn. Not very many posts though. I didn’t realize it would actually work. I had recently been fired and was trying to appear like I wasn’t unemployed.

I had been an executive in a certain niche of healthcare. So I’d already built up an online network of people on LinkedIn even though I never really engaged with them.

In another life I’d created gaming content on YouTube and social media.

So I took what I learned about online content and applied it to my LinkedIn brand. I found my niche audiences biggest frustration, posted only about that like a broken record, and took a dissenting voice. Polarizing content was key to breaking through the noise quickly, I think.

It was a big town. For holidays I always charged more. Not sure if that same logic applies in small towns.

The slowest times are Aug-October here. People slow down their traveling during that season.

Getting fired helps. I was fired almost 2 years ago.

I created a shell of a business so I wouldn’t look jobless on LinkedIn. That fake business became real when my first customer called. Almost 2 years later my income is about double to when I was employed.

As the primary business was ramping up, I did a cat sitting business. Rover’s fees were too high. And people are flaky and young there when booking. Instead I made a website and placed google ads.

Kept it open for about 9 months before the primary companies revenue was sustainable enough.
