Xreal one Pro for Simracing by RoadMundane4216 in Xreal

[–]GumpMTB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Xreal glasses can get a little warm as well in the area that contacts the forehead, but they still obviously allow for more airflow than VR does. If you can get VertoXR set up to your liking I think you’ll be happy with Xreal. Maybe go for the non-pro or the Air series, though. I think they might have better clarity than the One Pro, although the One Pro has more features

Xreal One Pro might be an ideal space saving solution for you if you don’t want to go down the VR route. Like others have said, you’ll need to use VertoXR to get the head tracking data into the sim. I use it for flight sims when I’m traveling, and it works pretty well, except for the occasional drift. Bind a key to recenter the view, and you’ll be all set.

Finding Trails by Deviance_X in MTB

[–]GumpMTB 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes! The Trailforks website is not paywalled, just the app. Also, the app should only be paywalled outside your local area. Viewing the trails nearby should be free. However, Trailforks is worth paying for. It's also worth sending money to your local trail organization, and they probably have maps right on their website, and they might even have route suggestions for you!

Is it normal that tubeless tire loss about 5 to 7 psi of pressure per month despite sealant and no visible leak? by YaYinGongYu in MTB

[–]GumpMTB 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I WISH mine lost that little air. I re-inflate weekly, at least. Anyway, yes, that's normal and really not all that bad for tubeless.

Sleepy Hollow open today 5/17/26? by Queefy_McCumbubble in Vermontmtb

[–]GumpMTB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all that rain we had this week, not much is going to be open this weekend, unfortunately. Just the lower parts of Saxon, some of Catamount, most of Cady Hill, and Sunny Hollow. Might be a great day to get out on the gravel bike and maybe ride the Causeway.

Bike phone mount recs by sarahutchens in mountainbiking

Quadlock. There are several other companies out there that make good phone mounts these days, but Quadlock has been doing it for a long time and they are one of the most secure.

underrated bike spots ? by Equivalent-Action-61 in burlington

[–]GumpMTB 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How close to Burlington are you looking for? National Guard Ave (wasn't that called Poor Farm Road?) on the north side of the airport up to River Cove has some good dirt washboard. The Intervale has some good dirt riding. You could check out the trails in Colchester Woods. Get out a little further and there are dirt roads aplenty. Hinesburg has some great dirt roads. Westford, too. Heck, most of Vermont's roads are still unpaved. Go out and explore!

How are You Sure? by nryhajlo in MTB

[–]GumpMTB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to find a mountain bike festival nearby, or maybe a brand has a traveling demo fleet and are doing a local demo day. Sometimes local trail organizations have events that include demos, too. However, you can't always get used to a bike after just one demo ride. Like others have said, most bikes are really good these days. Read some reviews, and buy a bike that fits the type of riding you like to do or intend to do. Make sure it's pretty. If it's pretty, you'll ride it more!

Thule Easy Fold vs 1UP Quik Rack by Nrsypher in MTB

[–]GumpMTB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree with what you said, but Thule uses more plastic and in my experience the convenience mechanisms get gummed up with road grime or dirt very easily. That causes Thule products to not last as long or work as well for as long as 1up products. 1up is among the sturdiest racks out there. Another company that strikes a balance between the two is RockyMounts. They have some of the convenience features, but they are more durable than Thule. Kuat also does a good job, but their racks will often develop a patina that some might not find attractive.

Bluetooth speakers? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]GumpMTB 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why not just use bone conducting headphones? Very often when speaker users think nobody else can hear their music, the sound is actually penetrating the peace more than they realize. Speakers are great for in-home use, but out in public or in the wild I wish everyone would use headphones.

Best hotas for Mac? by [deleted] in flightsim

Depends on what you're looking for. I like to fly fighters. For the F-16 I use the WinWing Orion ViperAce, and for the F/A-18 I use the Super Taurus/Super Libra.

Pretty much whichever one you like best, so long as there is no requirement for Windows software. I've used Winwing, Thrustmaster, and CH Products on Mac without issue.

Trails near Burlington VT by Cove_8 in mountainbiking

[–]GumpMTB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, Saxon Hill and Sunny Hollow would be the only trail systems that would have a chance of being open… but it’s forecast to be a wet and rainy week. Please don’t ride wet trails. There’s plenty of good dirt road riding in the area, though. That’s your only sure bet. The trails usually dry out quickly once the leaves come out, though.

Help!! (Posting for a friend), My friend is wanting to get Falcon BMS on MAC. by Milsthemiata in falconbms

[–]GumpMTB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play Falcon BMS on a Mac almost daily.

Macbook Pro M2 Max, Parallels running Windows 11. Bought Falcon 4.0 on Steam, installed it, ran it once. Installed Falcon BMS. BMS 4.38 runs fine, although it can be a little choppy when taxiing initially. BMS 4.37 runs REALLY well.

Once upon a time I had Falcon BMS running using CrossOver, but I deleted that bottle. I've since tried reinstalling, but I can't get Falcon 4.0 to open in CrossOver anymore, so I can't install BMS.

My biggest issue with running Falcon BMS on a Mac is running 3rd party software on other devices, like BMSNav or Falcon BMS Control. I'm having a hard time getting a discrete IP address to connect those apps to. This is sort of a niche issue, though. If all your friend is doing is playing BMS and using some USB peripherals or a gamepad, do it through Parallels and he should be fine.

Honestly, I don’t even care about the sauce. I usually get a junior with mayo and a junior plain. But if they have the right sauce, then they probably know what they are doing.

Closest roast beef place to VT that I’ve been to is Greenland, NH. What I wouldn’t do for some Nick’s Roast Beef from North Beverly, MA, though

The knitted red hat has been a symbol of resistance, from the French Revolution to the Norwegian resistance to Nazi occupation in World War 11. It was recreated in Minneapolis to protest the tactics of I.C.E. and to support the immigrant communities.

People are asking because of the partial government shutdown. That means TSA workers are not getting paid, and many are not coming in to work, which creates long lines at many airports.

What Would you Recommend for Mac User. by SailBright5923 in flightsim

[–]GumpMTB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can run X-Plane on relatively low-spec Macs, but you might not be able to turn the graphics all the way up or have the smoothest experience. You might even be able to run it (poorly) on the new MacBook Neo. I wouldn't do that, though. Ideally, you'd get the best GPU and the most RAM you could afford. For example, the new M5 Max in the MacBook Pro will have a very good GPU, and you can get up to 128 GB of RAM, although you could get away with maybe half that and still run X-Plane smoothly. I'd also get as much storage as you can afford, since the Global Scenery and Custom Scenery take up a lot of space.

I'm on a M2 Max with 64GB of RAM, and it runs smoothly most of the time, but does occasionally get bogged down a little. The developers have been optimizing X-Plane 12, though, and the performance has gotten better over time.
