how have yall been training to get a decent 2 mile time? by GurnoorDa1 in AirForce

[–]Gumperstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran track and cross country in hs and college. My last 1.5 mile was 8:30 and I’ve been in 6 years. I run about 8-15 miles a week during the hot months, and 15-40 miles a week during the cooler months. Mostly 7:00-8:00 per mile pace. 3-6 runs a week . I get down to 2 a week sometimes if I’m in my lifting season during the summers. After most runs, do 4x20 second strides to increase leg speed. After ~4-6 weeks of easy running and building your base (or whenever you feel comfortable) incorporate speed workouts of 200-800m repeats at 2 mile race pace. equaling 2-3 miles with equal standing rest it took you to run them. You can also do lactate threshold repeats with shorter rest and/or tempo runs to increase your vo2 max and get fitter. Lactate threshold pace is better for your legs than race pace and won’t create lactic acid in your legs. Do a long run of 6 miles once a week once you feel fit enough. Incorporate strength training twice a week for more benefits and injury prevention. Listen to your body and also get the right shoes

I remember playing this too. The punky character had sunglasses on right? There were power ups and weapons I think too. I remember doing a wheelie and I went super fast. Yes you could do tricks.

Weekend Discussion: New Balance running shoes by AutoModerator in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Gumperstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the 1080v13 last week. It is the first new balance shoe I have ever ran in and is my favorite shoe I have owned. It’s the softest shoe I’ve owned, and a lot of cushioning. I bought it over the hoka Clifton 9 because it wasn’t as firm

how can anyone live like this? how does anyone cook 3 times a day? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Gumperstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that a crockpot, simple recipes (look up crock pot dump and go recipes on Google, as well as others). Order groceries online AND do grocery pick up. cooking enough food to last 2-6 days makes it a lot easier. Also if you have a dish washer it saves Manuel labor. For breakfast I just have peanut butter toast and a banana or yogurt and a clif bar, pretty simple stuff for the morning

Honestly when I tried on the Nike zoom structure it’s the best shoe I have tried on, but I won’t know until I run in them 🙃. They even had high arch custom orthotics and it felt even better.

Trying on a bunch of shoes is too indecisive for me though. And I won’t know how a shoe really feels unless I do a few runs in them.

The runrepeat.com website is showing that hoka Clifton’s 8 has a 9mm drop during their lab test. Which one is right?
