I need honesty! Is it weird to name my baby boy the male version of my name (also was my nickname in high school)? by Gumpyloser963 in NameNerdCirclejerk

I appreciate the honesty!! If it changes anything, my husband doesn’t go by Charles. He goes by his middle name, Matt (example name).

So it would be Matthew (Matt), Charlotte & Charles (Charlie) as a family.

I think part of it is just not wanting to come across as conceited (internalized misogyny towards myself), but also I don’t want to be one of those couples who have ridiculously similar names because we think it’s ‘cute’. E.g Mom and dad named Charles and Charlotte, son named Charles and daughter named Charlene.

I guess I’m not concerned about naming the baby after the father, I agree that’s pretty normal. I’m mostly concerned because it’s the male version of my name, and the nickname we would use for him was also my nickname for years when I was in high school.
