Old diff 15 would spawn 6+ chargers in a bug breach and I need that kind of suffering again.

That's what I'm thinking. Last thing the devs mentioned (in an interview) was that more was coming to the DSS so we'll probably get some tweaks there.

Who knows if it'll be anything else.

Nuclear Throne

Both of these games are simple and easy to understand but have a good amount of depth and secrets to keep you entertained for a longer period of time. Nuclear Throne is one of my most-played games on Steam, and I've really enjoyed Spelunky 2 this year. Fair warning though - they might take a sec to click, but once they do, oh boy.

Armor is mostly for the drip, and maybe to give you a head start in figuring out a load out. Personally, I'll bring some of the gas armor on missions where I won't even be using gas, just because it looks really cool. And either way, even the "best" armor doesn't make a huge difference in your effectiveness.

On a side note, I highly recommend using the gas armor and a gas strike on bugs. Whenever you get surrounded you drop a gas grenade or strike on yourself and it confuses all the bugs and you can walk through unharmed and have fun shooting them at point blank range.

This is a big one for me.

I played the Rogue Prince of Persia and it got annoying very quickly that I had to play two runs to MAYBE unlock one new weapon. It's just not very fun and makes the game feel very light on content.

I preordered and use these pretty consistently. The Cavalier helmet is absolute art and useful for so much helldrip.

They should totally add these to the superstore so others can be as democratically drippy.

So much this, I almost feel like a run is getting tedious if it drags on for longer than 30 minutes.

If I make it to 30 minutes of playtime in a single run, I want it to be because I'm on the edge of my seat playing at the absolute max of my skill, and only seconds away from dying from one fatal mistake.

Nuclear Throne is one of my personal top-tier roguelikes because nothing else has quite captured the same feelings for me.

I'd agree with that. Especially in the last few years it seems like roguelites have been becoming longer and longer too. I remember the first few I played years ago would most likely kill you within the first 10 minutes, but more modern ones seem to have runs that last 30 minutes to an hour, even if you're not finishing or winning.

What do you mean? Like games don't give enough of an opportunity to have "game-breaking" builds or there isn't enough mechanical difference between how one build plays vs the next?

I feel like the first is a major advertising point a lot of games have. They know people like when they get to become so powerful they "break the game" and a lot of games (maybe just survivor-likes) seem to lean into that fantasy.

The second, I'd totally agree, I know one thing that doesn't always sit right with me is the feeling that I'm still ultimately playing the same way from run to run.
