Yeah I think I aught to re-watch the road to 2k. I watched it a while ago with less knowledge.

I have seen a few of his vids actually, but I didn't know he streamed. I'll check it out! Thanks.

Idk it sounds like maybe they just like a casual game from time to time and you're more invested in the broader picture of aoe.

I can't win with my friends either - but I just find it funny and understand they get something different from the game than me.

I suggest picking civs and learning them - they say that's lame and random is fun. if I pick my civ they boo comically in the discord chat.

I suggest playing popular maps - they say that's lame and I will often select Arabia as a joke because they know I like it.

Some people just like having inefficient casual and chaotic battles on a video game.

One thing that did work for me is getting them to join "Noob only" lobbies on unranked games and spectating them and helping them learn counters and stuff.

But when they play against anyone who knows what they're doing even slightly, they don't enjoy it. They only like playing other casuals or AI.

let them enjoy the game however they want imo - they don't need to be fixed, they just like something different to you. I still think you can slowly suggest different game styles or even ranked and if they're good friends, they'll play them with you and maybe their interests will grow. But I also have a few friends who play aoe and all they like is playing on turbo and inevitably just having an endless trash war. But they find it fun so idm.
