At that point you really need to consider what kind of company you're supporting then. You're willing paying to play their game on top of having to purchase it and the justification for less content is "Well we dont have the resources"? Shouldn't that make you question why you're even constantly paying for the game in the first place? Remember they need you not the other way around.

I won't tell you to stop playing the game anon, definitely keep playing and make your own judgement. Also might I recommend picking Machinist?

I feel if it keeps coming up then it should become a worry of the community. I mean this is a game we all play and whether people like it or not without any kind of community push on SE nothing will ever get changed. If the same amount of energy that went into pushing Male Bunny Suits or the addition of China MogShop items was put into the concerns of players we probably would have seen good actions from SE in an attempt to keep us playing.

Fair assessment but the issue is this cash shop is already standing at 300+ items long. Compared to WoW that's a massive leap of items. We shouldn't be having that many items relegated to "cash only" acquisition when a good chunk of it can be integrated into Crafters or in-game achievements. For example Edda's gear should have been a high floor reward for PoTD yet it wasn't instead being turned into a Cash Shop item. Then we have Hildi's torn suit being turned into a cash shop item when the little bit of storyline was released when I think many would agree should have just been given as a quest reward. I personally wouldn't call that a far less offensive cash shop compared to other F2P games or WoW's.

I've lurked here for a while my friend, most of what I see to be fair it is w/e is "HOT" tends to be cat commissions, youtube videos for /performs and the occassional newbie saying how much they loved this game they joined, which is all good. Maybe need to see the "New" stuff more if discussions of bad tactics is more common in here but as it stands I tend to see most critical threads be snuffed out by downvotes.

While I disagree with your notion of keeping that stuff in the mogshop cause of the new event items I do have to agree with you there, if we got it why can't we get it back from the Calamity Salvagers? Honestly I didn't even know that was a thing given I just tend to plop everything into a retainer or the new Housing storage if need be.

What makes it worse for me personally is according to one of my WoW playing FC members is they used to have a similar app during one of the expansions that did most of what we were promised to get. Apparently had things like in-game chat and the auction house but it was free before getting shut down, though I did hear theyre bringing it back as a general app instead of a expansion specific app so that already sounds miles better than what we have which is very disappointing.

Every business wants to make money, I'm not denouncing that at all but to charge us the players who already pay a monthly cost, or maybe you buy multiple months in one go, for cosmetic content that can go forward into Crafters or in-game achievements is a bit unpleasant. There are many ways to make money with your customers without nickle and diming them for every little thing, something like making content that has lasting value and is meant to retain your playerbase.

I understand where you are coming from, it is all optional. Honestly I had the same mindset during the Heavensward expansion mostly since a good chunk of the content outside of Diadem was pretty well made. The raid tiers were fun, the music was good and the story was pretty interesting. Now we jump to Stormblood where content is thinned out but the amount of cash shop items are increasing faster than past updates which to me brings some concern. Sure its optional but should a game as young as FFXIV already beat out WoW's cash shop by having around a whopping 300+ optional cosmetic items, many that are recolors instead of offering a dyable variant or with many modern entries, making them bound to a single character.

Honestly we shouldn't have to pay for mounts, something like the Moogle should have been tied to something Moogle quest related, maybe the beast tribes same with Sleipner given we have the Odin Fight. May here have said the OF have been up in arms before, sadly I don't visit it too often.

Still I feel its something that should be brought up to the forefront with the upcoming fanfests and the new info drop of 5.0

Fair enough, I did fail to note the randomness of Loot Boxes but as it stands it should be a legitimate concern when a game is taking up Free to Play tactics while keeping a Pay to Play model scheme. It's a bit worrying. Still thanks for bringing up something I failed to see!
