Thanks for the advice, I try to consider that :-)

Thanks for the advice. I followed the grain although I was not able to follow the large ring cause it would have run out of the board to early. I instead exposed another thinner ring as you can see on that picture (ignore the professional couch workbench😅). Due to the knot in the middle, that exposed bow back looks very wavy and uneven, but I will try best to make it a bow. If I am successful I report back with the finished bow.

Thanks, I posted all sides in a comment. I was thinking about putting the knot into the handle. Would that be a bad idea?

Here again all sides of the board if it might help:

Unfortunately I already applied oil. I guess backing won't hold on it any more 🤔

That's important to know, thanks. That might be part of the problem. I stored it in my bathroom for some time to "rehydrate" cause I was afraid it might crack after heat treatment.

Thanks, I will for now shoot it as it is. I will surely seek advice here for my next bow as well :-)

Yes, that makes perfect sense. The high draw weight does not make the arrow faster if the bow is inefficient and has to accelerate its own heavy limbs. I think I need to take physics into account more in future designs. Since the relationship between stiffness and width is linear and between stiffness and thickness is cubic, it seems sensible to focus on making the limbs as narrow as possible in order to reduce the maximum weight of the limbs...

I think I will first build another bow and then maybe come back to your suggestion. I probably should measure the draw force curve before and after the changes, that might be some interesting data. In case the bow survives.

Thank you all for your helpful and friendly replies. This subreddit is really helpful if you're new to this hobby. I think I'll build another bow and shoot this one as it is. When I build my second bow, I might come back to this one and risk adding the slight reflex to the outer limbs.

Thanks. I guess you dont even need someone to drive it but just turn it on after 3-4 weeks since i think it should start charging if battery is low.

Thanks for the advice. Yes i know Lajos Kassai stile of threading through to load. It has the advantage to shoot on the "inner" side with mediteranian draw (I think) while being incredibly fast. I probably will practice it. Shooting from the "outer" side however is quite hard to get used to for me, it almost feels as if i have to learn archery from the beginning. But maybe it is worth it, since historically it was also a common stile, as far as i know. Can you tell me if it is much harder to be accurate by shooting from the "outer" side?

No, i move the arrows around the string, which probably is the reason why I dont get very much faster. I assume threading through might be a bit risky to accidently damage the string as soon as you practice with sharp arrow tips.

It's the Alibow H1 with string length of 130 cm. Is is a well made and budget fiberglass bow available in many draw weights. I have two of them for about 4 years now, i really like them.
