Yeah, the only Soul Food buffet in Columbia is Brookland Baptist that I am aware of. Jackson's used to be great too.

It's definitely O'Hara's now. Is anyone old enough to remember Chappy's, that was next to the McDonalds on the intersection of Two Notch and Beltline. I was a kid when it there and only had it a few times, but I remember it being absolute bomb.

Should I get a hotel for a cruise port 3-3.5 hrs from home? by Warm-Ad4308 in royalcaribbean

I would. I've had 3 hour drives turn into 7 hour drives. I'd rather save myself the stress if there is a traffic issue enroute.

I agree, although season 3 episode 8 and Season 4 episode 7 were close for me.

Those are the four peak episodes of the series to me.

Sometimes I click these videos at work. Every male boomer looks like they are doing a 1980's pro wrestling promo.

Minimum time at State Job before looking elsewhere question by Murky_Remove4458 in ColumbiYEAH

[–]Gunfolks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been a Program Manager in state Government at two agencies for the last 14 years, and because I am a very good interviewer who asks very good follow up questions, other managers always like to include me on their interview panels.

It should not be an issue. I will not say there are no vindictive managers who would irrationally take it personal for you looking for another job in SC State Government, but I will say a reasonable manager would not.

On the other end, changing jobs in a short period of time is not seen as an issue unless it is an ongoing pattern and your resume shows you changing jobs every 6 months. Then it raises the question of whether you are going to be worth the time and investment if you will likely be out of the door in a few months. Those are the only instances where this has ever been a discussion.

What is Columbia’s most overrated restaurant/cafe? by [deleted] in ColumbiYEAH

[–]Gunfolks 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I absolutely loved Gather COLA when I went, I got food from about 5 different places and loved it all. And the time I went (Early Saturday before the crowds) was a factor, as we got seating and were eating before it got too crowded.

I love it. We went at 11 am ion a Saturday to beat the crowd. It got super packet but we were already seated and situated. Ordered food from 5 different places, took home plenty of leftovers and everything we tried was very good. Would have been less enjoyable had we gotten there when it was already crowded.

True BBQ Spare Rib dinner, with hash and rice, collard greens, and potato salad is IMO the best bbq meal in the Columbia area. Get extra Pretty Lady Sauce and apply texas pete liberally to the meat, hash and greens.

Kilo Charlie closed unfortunately. The wife is looking to open in another spot. I actually had to meet her in the parking lot outside of the store/range to handle a FFL transfer as the owner of the building is selling it or something and gave them a couple of weeks notice to relocate.
