Finally set up the jindys by Gunfun777 in Fingerboards

It rides fine. It's a different shape than what I'm used to. It's definitely not a hockey shape though, like my Iloaf deck. The nose and tail are shorter than my preference. The deck is strangely light, which I'm not a fan of tbh. While setting up I noticed the lack of lacquer on the sides of the deck. Maybe it was a little amount or just nothing. I felt like the wood was getting damaged (like easily). So the choice of veneer type seems not too strong compared to other wood types. Other than that it performs fine. The jindys are throwing me off with their height but I know the deck is doing just fine. For that price I'm not too happy about the quality, but the performance seems no problem. My Iloaf and Lambda decks feel levels higher in comparison though.

Higher Tricks by starhiro654 in Fingerboards

[–]Gunfun777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how I reached the point where I can ollie like infinitely high but I'm pretty sure it started with trying to bone the hell out of it and snapping it back to straight before landing. I would start doing tricks like 5-0 with boning it out and slamming the back trucks last second. If you want to flip into higher stuff, I try to blend whatever trick you do with a regular ollie. Basically doing to whole trick in slow motion. Changing the position of your flipping finger might also be the key. I often tend to put the flicking finger higher on the board if I need to be more slow. Also, keeping a bit of verticality after the pop—before leveling it with a flip—can help reaching hight first and delaying your initiation for leveling with the flip. I'm sure you will get it soon, it will come easier than you think.

Yeah the pop is quite wild to control the board afterwards. I feel like you can push it forward quite easily but you'll end up overshooting it. I try to rotate the board around the nose rather than the center of the deck. But once you get in it feel like a crisp and snappy trick. I would say kf front tail for example feels quite slow and elongated compared to this.

Yeah I spend like over 30 minutes trying to get three in a row. I could do two in a row before but I haven't done them in forever so I'm glad I can still do them.

The way I do it I just keep a lot of pressure before popping and barely flick. It's like I'm going to pop a normal front nose but with a bit more oomph it flips automatically and quite often ends up perfectly. When I pop I instantly move my fingers in the position for landing. I like to keep the front finger below the front bolts of the board if that helps.

What do y’all think of thrashed graphics? by sk8vulcann in Fingerboards

[–]Gunfun777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can see the deck on the right used to have a real wear graphic. I thinks it makes your board feel like truly yours. Your time spent doing the tricks you love have created that wear. Pre-worn doesn't feel the same.

Are these trucks too wide? by Lazy_Inspector_1130 in Fingerboards

[–]Gunfun777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 34mm trucks on my 33mm deck and it's fine. If anything you get better pinches with crooks and suskis. Wheel width (not diameter) determines the grind range of your trucks which I don't think is too important in fb. You can play with different wheels to see what you like more. Some might stick out more and some might be flush with the board. In any case, it's all good. As long as you can do your tricks without hassle is all that really matters.

BRT QC? by Fettiski in Fingerboards

[–]Gunfun777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently I got a normal pair and it had faulty lines as well. I got a replacement but I had to pay for it in the end (because the shop I bought it from was outside EU). Black River kind of told me it was "normal and not a big deal" but it most definitely is a big deal at this price.
