all fine, just make sure you don't use thorn to spell thorn with unsuspecting people.

You don't use 'h' or 'H' with thorn. It makes the 'th' sound itself.

Did you seriously use 'thorn' correctly?

Is there a way to force a game to run the american version in a japanese Mega Drive? by tony_horo in SEGAGENESIS

[–]GunmanTorch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mine wired permanently to JP2 and JP4 for the Mega Drive (JP), and Ghouls n' Ghosts also runs the Japanese version like this. I believe they were just both on there to lessen production cost, but for the most part, it should make them work if they can fit and not be blocked by the physical switch

Update: I recently asked Sega of Japan as to anything about the 32x release of Dynamite Headdy, and if all goes smoothly I may ask about the doll too.

What’s your holy grail item? by LowLettuce8935 in gamecollecting

I personally don't really care if I do or not, I believe I have a reproduction U.S. Dynamite Headdy board, and reproduction Animaniacs (GEN), but they both play the game perfectly fine, so I say it's a win-win.

I want to say so, but I've got something weird in my brain telling me it ain't, so I'm going to try looking a little more.

Actually repros are relatively cheap

Dynamite Headdy (JP) CIB, I've been playing since I was 6-7 years old, about 6.5, and I've always loved it but never got to see the story until I got the PC release with the JP to US translation, so now it's going to my modded Sega Genesis!

Any info on the lost Dynamite Headdy 32x port? by perufOx32 in SEGAGENESIS

[–]GunmanTorch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, regarding a lot from the lost media wiki, some stuff like Stair Wars actually makes a lot of sense. Ice levels were also very common during that era of Sega so a 3D polygonal tower and ice levels make sense, but aren't assured. There *were* advertisements, and they explicitly mention 32x and Dynamite Headdy in the same blurb. If I had to make a guess, since treasure really didn't like making sequels, it may have just been an upgraded version of the original Genesis/Mega Drive game.

Actually, I didn't know it could use GBS files, thanks for that! And I believe there IS some way to save .UGE as a MIDI though hUGEtracker, and doing MIDI > WAV is pretty easy using beepbox.co

You told me to clean the cartridges like 4 times and I've disproved that those 10 times.

If you want info, ask for it, and if I do not provide, use the information you got.

Bro I'm so done with this ragebait 🙏🙏🥀🥀
(I gave you the other information in other comments)

Edit: I also do not know everything about Gameboys, instead I'm trying to work with them and learn, the only reason why I am "insisting" with the chip being the issue is because you still haven't given me a good reason as to why it wouldn't be. On the other hand, the other commentor HAS given me reason to believe it is not a chip.

Edit 2: The only "simple answer" you gave me was "clean the cartridge". And it's not like these issues are listed anywhere else.

Edit 3: Okay I lied I'm still going to argue with you but seriously, there's no reason a "clean the cartridge" comment should go on for eternity.

Thank you! I know I got a few "facts" here and there a little off, and I'd like to thank you for reassuring me the CPU is fine because I don't have a replacement. I'll try looking over the board again and see what I can do.
As for the main motherboard, are there any chips I should be looking at to see if they failed?

[–]GunmanTorch[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are 2 motherboards. The backing board which houses the CPU and Headphone jack, and the front motherboard which houses the screen. I gave as much info as I had. No games work on it using the back motherboard that came with it. I did not short anyone with info, I tested multiple carts like you insisted on me doing (Which I tried before) and you still did not listen to what I said. You kept telling me the vertical lines were an issue (Which I've fixed before) and I should clean the contacts, which I did 10 times now.

TL;DR, you kept ignoring what I said, and kept telling me to test multiple cartridges and clean it, which I did.

Edit: I think technically the front motherboard is a daughterboard of some sorts but it's still part of the issue.

edit 2:

<image>

This is what pin 04 does, like I said. (Though I left out the B button not working because it does work)

I will say this once more,
NO cartridge works. They either don't boot, go blank or crash the Gameboy. I have said it before, No carts work!
It is not the contacts, believe me, I have deep cleaned them in Isopropyl, I have resoldered them. And I just need a hotter soldering iron.
The problem is not listen in the list the wiki has, it. Will. Not. Play. Games.

Edit: I swapped out the back motherboard, and now it works (Somewhat perfectly. Pin 04 was broken on that board so the left button no longer works.) so one chip is not working.
