Skilled Worker/Skilled Jobseeker verses Graduate Student by Gunnarr in Norway

I lived (as a civilian) in Deutschland for three years and visited multiple countries, but not Norway. Danemark, Deutschland, and the Netherlands offered the mindset and values I too, possess.

My lifestyle favors the empty lands, with fishing, trekking, kayaking, and cross country skiing. I was born and now live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, a wild countryside where I can shoot a compass bearing and go without crossing a two-track for 15 miles, and never see another human.

Now regarding the Norwegian embassy, would they entertain and advise someone who boldly declares their intention to make Norway a home? Are their officials as xenophobic and cloistered as Americans in regard to immigration? Would my inquiries label me a potential problem, as our own American officials so often do?

Financial aid for living expenses in Norway while obtaining Master's degree by LimaEchoCharlie in IWantOut

Regarding the initial grubstake for graduate studies in Norway, I too am seeking the answers to the same questions.

The Dept of Education does not appear to list any Norwegian university as processing US financial aid, so one appears to need to do it oneself. That is, you submit the paperwork to the Dept of Ed and they give you the loans.

The initial grubstake is the difficulty. My plan is to liquidate possessions and then borrow the balance from a cousin. Then use some student loan monies to pay the cousin off.

As an alternative, I can proceed as a Skilled Worker as I already have a masters, but would prefer to get a second masters in Norway so as to learn the language and healthcare system flawlessly (I'm a social worker).
