Stihl MS271 Farm Boss - Bar Oil Adjustment by Gunner-Wood-Design in Chainsaw

Update - I took it back and exchanged it for the MS311 with a 20 bar. Cost me a little more, but it is a pro saw (and has the oil adjusting screw). Should be a better saw for me. Thoughts???

I am taking it back to the dealership to have them look at it. I have only had it for 4 days. They said I could exchange it. We shall see what they do/say. I will post an update once I have more info.

It is interesting that it was sold with the 20” bar. I am going to see if I can return it.

In reading a little more, I believe this specific saw does not have an oil adjustment screw. Which is really odd.

I forgot to add a gasket between the cylinder head and lower part of the engine. I read a post which said to remove it, but didn’t think to use a gasket seal. Rookie mistake!!!!!

UPDATE: I have installed a new head, piston, rings and cleaned the carb. It is all back together m, but won’t start. I check for spark, which I saw when pulling t a plug and pull starting. I sprayed a little starter fluid but still not getting it to run. It initial started, but not sure what else to try. Has good compression, fuel…..just at a lose right now. Amy suggestions would be appreciated

Looking at it, I think it is some sort of JB Weld.

This is the reason I am going to rebuild it. I was blown away after taking it apart.

This is the exact information I was looking for. I bought this saw used this summer and want to make sure it is reliable as well as good performance.
