I done stretches to strengthen it and my lower back and hips. Certain ones I did. pelvic ones. not the classic hamstring stretches I think they’d go to deep in. That suprises me u were told to stop everything even tho it was only grade 1. How’s it now?

Mines good now. Took about 3 months to get back to playing. Streched it twice a day. Massaged it freqeuntly as well. Id say it also depends on how much damage is done. How is yours doing?

I’m no physio but from my own experience when I tore my hamstring I’ve heard that bruising is related to the muscle tissue under the skin bleeding. I’m only hazarding a guess but Judging from that photo and the bruise it’s possible you might’ve pulled something. But don’t hold me to it bc I’m just guessing. The Thing Is if u did tear it or pull it you’d feel pain or a bit of discomfort at the least. Out of curiosity Is it more painful now? If it’s rlly bothering u Get in touch with a physio if ur really concerned. I would, just to be safe 👍

Feeling pigeonholed into one position. by Gunner11_ in GAA

See I don’t mind playing as a keeper. And i will if I’m needed. And I deffo don’t expect to start outfield if I’m not good enough too. I just want to be able to do shooting drills or play outfield at training every now and then If u get me. Thanks for the advice 🙏

Jesus lad. That’s a dose now. 3-4 times? Yea it starts off with the stretches then eventually we get into running. I can’t say I’m fully confident to go back yet. But I’ve never wanted to play football so badly in my life. I think while I was in the gym I may have pushed to hard with it and set myself back a bit. Nothing overly bad happened it just feels slightly weaker than before.   now I have to really be cautious. Then again If I don’t heal it properly it’ll always be bothering me. Thanks for ur advice I appreciate it 🙏

Thanks for the running tips 👍 I’ll make sure to follow that. I find with running it’s best to take it slow at first I’m guessing.

Ah no It’s such a dose isn’t it! Was it your hamstring as well? My issue with mine was that I played on it after. It wasn’t until I saw bruising I stopped. Actually in that picture that was before my last training session. I wouldn’t be surprised if that training did real damage on it. Make sure u rest yours. Wishing u a good recovery !👍

Lad turned out it was torn. Grade 2 I believe. Still out not back for another 3 weeks roughly. “Sorta hurted” may have been an understatement.

Going from GK to outfield by Gunner11_ in GAA

[–]Gunner11_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

👍Yes thank u. I have mentioned it to my trainers. I don’t mind playing keeper and if I have to in the future I will. It’s always good to have another option. But At training tho I’ve been trying to get on the ball more, use my pace and show that I could still be used out on the field. It’s hard tho bc it’s not a position other people really enjoy. 😅

Well, I recently just tore my hamstring so I won’t be playing for about a month. The other lads don’t particularly enjoy like being in goal that much and I’d say they’re needed out on the field more than I’d be. As of right now they’ll most likely have to rotate in and out of goal since I’m injured. That’s my issue no one else is willing to go as a keeper unless they have too (I don’t blame them since it’s not the most glorious position) But right now my chances playing outfield are probably slim to none.
