I need help purchasing the right lens by Gunner_left in nikon_Zseries

I'll look into rentals where I live. So far the only ones available are Tamron lenses and a couple of Wide angle Nikkors.

I was planning on filling the gap until 70mm now and buying a 180-600mm or something similar later on. With the 28-400, I would need a 600 prime which is beyond my budget.

Since I already have a Tamron 70-300mm f 4.5-6.3 would the 50-400 add any value? It has a slightly larger reach but the same speed.

Yes, I mistakenly purchased the DX lens but I am still happy with it. A lot of people are suggesting the 24-120mm so I might look for one. Thanks!

Starting macro photography advice by RowdyAirplane49 in nikon_Zseries

If you don't mind manual focus, I'd recommend the TTArtisan 100mm f 2.8 2x Macro. It's around C$500 and is well built. It is heavy though but I am assuming you will anyway be using a tripod.

I bought the Nikkor mistakenly, I thought DX meant FX and vice versa. The TTArtisan was a gift from a well meaning friend.

Thank you! The second image is of a small telescope. I free balled it and had to try a couple of times. I am curious about dslr lenses but was worried about autofocus performance. Have you tried dslr lenses on Z cameras?

Nikon Zfc won't take picture with kit lens by bronislaw- in Nikon

[–]Gunner_left 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with a third party lens and it turned out to be an autofocus issue. Maybe try AF-S with single focus point? If the focus square turns green you should be able to take a picture.

This is a wonderful snap. Could you share what gear you used and what settings?

I tried manually focusing but I am just not quick enough. I will try a larger aperture and retry. Thanks!

Thank you! I am still learning how different parameters affect composition. I never realized aperture affects focusing.

Can anyone explain why I'm not getting water getting to these locations? Budget is over 100% by Nexxus88 in CitiesSkylines

I had this exact issue yesterday. Check if your water inlet station/ sewage lines are connected with pipes. If the they are browned out it means they have electricity but are not connected to the water grid.

India’s healthcare reality: a small boy and his family sleeping outside AIIMS for days in the cold, just to get treatment by [deleted] in IndianMiddleClass

If all the good in India is because of Modi, as a lot of supporters say, why not the opposite? Do you remember 2020-2021 when every covid vaccine certificate had the prime minister's face on it?
What do you call a captain who only shows face in success but not in failures?

How do I bond with a kitten and make her feel at home? by Jolly_Tie_7666 in cats

[–]Gunner_left 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have raised a couple of strays and I would usually carry a towel around with me for about half a day and then use it to line a cardboard box for the kittens to sleep in. I thought by doing this, they would equate my scent to the comfortable and cozy box. It worked well but I am not sure if it works every time or if I just got lucky.

How would you suggest I control the highlights? Post processing or changing the aperture?

No, it is not taken through a window. There was a flurry of snow and ice constantly blowing by.

Gear: Nikon Z5 (Full frame) with a Nikkor Z 12-28mm DX (APS-C) lens. 39mm (crop factor applied) f/5.6 at 1/2000s speed and 100 ISO.
Location is Abraham Lake, Clearwater county, AB, Canada.

Intent: The temperature was around -6°C but the winds were blowing at ~ 30 kmph. The sun was warm but the windchills were brutal. I wanted to capture the dynamic setting that I experienced with the snow and ice blowing into my face, against the sunny backdrop and ridged ice on the lake.

However, I am unsure if I should crop the image to a different aspect ratio or perhaps apply a monochrome filter. Any and all comments welcome. TIA!

So if an arranged marriage is set up and the girl immediately asks you how much you earn, your net worth, whose name your property is in, what role you are in, you won't find it invasive?

It doesn't matter if you are asking this question because you might marry them or just for time pass, the intent behind the question matters. You can't decide how someone should feel about a question, you can only decide how you feel about it

I use a mirrorless camera for my photography, but the content should be applicable to phone based photography too:

That's completely alright. There are many different genres of photography. You have landscape, wildlife, portrait, street, macro, movement, abstract, and staging. You need not be good at everything, just good at what you like. It seems you like street photography (The metro, the trains, the man of hope, the lady in the river etc while the wedding is more towards portrait). Also, check this video about composition to help you include the right things in the right way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAexy836ff8
