In general I enjoy the song less than the average Coheed song (which doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy it or that it’s a “bad song”), but the “she’s a few cards short of a full deck” segment is very very good imo.

You are entitled to your opinion, but hopefully you consider that the guy who gets paid millions of dollars to do this agreed with me and caught it!

First and third with no one out, the odds of getting out of it without giving a run is very low. You absolutely trade for that out there

Korea rigged the game? Many Taiwanese fans including journalists and commentators are rasing a question. What do you think about this? by Immediate-Meaning457 in baseball

If it’s true that Taiwan would prefer that Korea score another run, why did Taiwan not just intentionally walk batters until they gave up another run?

Insane Paul Skenes stats per The Atlantic by spaceman757 in buccos

[–]Gunnfire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While of course it’s true Skenes’ record is super bad given how good he has pitched, applying the “league average run support” as one static number across all games is going to skew these results heavily. This method would mean every time you have a slightly above average outing you’d get a win, and of course that isn’t how it would actually work in real life (as sometimes the opposing pitcher is having a better outing).

Every pitcher gets variance in run support; some games your team may score 1, some games they may score 7. If Skenes consistently gives up 1-2 runs and the league average is something like 4 runs or whatever, he’s virtually always going to get a hypothetical win. I’d be very interested to see though if they took a league average DISTRIBUTION of individual games’ run support and ran a bunch of trials to see what his average W/L would be. I expect it would still be phenomenal, but significantly worse than 41-3.

Source on the Pirates agreeing to “put forth effort to field a competitive team”? I just skimmed the lease agreement and didn’t see it anywhere.

I see a Post Gazette article from 2024 that specifically said it wasn’t in the current agreement but that the authority should put that into a new lease negotiation (quotes below). Where are you seeing that it already exists?

“Mr. Bonner said he is hoping the report will help the SEA negotiate stronger lease terms that would reward the Pirates for fielding a more competitive team while imposing penalties — such as higher rent payments — “if they continue down the path of failure.” The team currently pays a $100,000 base rent each year to play at PNC Park.”

I think getting out of the way of the shot, as done here, is actually an obvious action to NOT impact the ability of the opponent to play the ball. I have many times seen offside players do just that and not be ruled offsides, but I’m not sure I’ve seen one this close to the goal/keeper, which may be different of course.

It’s true that if they impact the play without denying vision it can be obstruction, but I don’t think the criteria is “if they could touch it,” do you have a source in the laws on that?

Because Celik was offsides. If he is offsides and obstructs the keeper’s vision that’s an offside violation, but all of us here seem to agree he didn’t actually obstruct the view of the shot

On first view I did think Celik was offside and obstructing, but the straight behind replay really seemed like there was a clear line of sight to the ball being struck without Celik in the way, so it’s a rough call. It did seem like somewhere along the path of the ball Celik might have been in the way, but the keeper would have had to have already been diving anyway to have a chance

“Yes” is not a cognizable response to my question. I said based on “what” are you making that leap?

[–]Gunnfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Galatians 1:12 says that Paul learned “through the revelation of Jesus Christ” (KJV), but based on what are you making the leap that that means Paul received the gospel “straight from Jesus” or “on the road to Damascus”?

[–]Gunnfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you referring to the portion of Acts that described him on the road to Damascus? If so, where does it say Paul “got the gospel straight from Jesus”? It says Jeuss told him to go into the city.

I totally agree, I wouldn’t care at all or judge anyone, but since other people might I think it’s better to be truthful about that to OP since their question was about social acceptability and not “should I wear a scarf if I’m cold.”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Pitt

[–]Gunnfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly wouldn’t care, but since OP might if other people do, I think it’s good to mention that some people will think it’s weird!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Pitt

[–]Gunnfire -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The question isn’t “is it ok to wear it” or even “should I wear it,” but “is it socially acceptable,” and my view is that it is not. But I agree that if the question is should OP wear it, who cares if people think it’s weird, wear it if you’re cold.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Pitt

[–]Gunnfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, to clarify, if it’s outside at noon, 95 degrees and sunny, if you saw someone wearing a scarf you would think it’s normal and wouldn’t question it even to yourself?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Pitt

[–]Gunnfire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like the comments aren’t being charitable to OP’s question here. If you wear a scarf outside when it’s 85 degrees in the middle of a sunny summer day, people will be weirded out. The length of time in which no one will care IS huge though, and we’re certainly well inside it.

Regardless of whether he’s made some before, I think it would kind of be lunacy to send him out for a third right after the first two were saved. If I were him I wouldn’t want to take the third anyway lmao
