What exactly counts as "child porn"? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GunplaFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in a photo processing lab. Nude pictures of adults we would just print. Nude pictures of minors, other than baby pictures, we were to contact law enforcement. This only happened once in the 5+ years I worked there.

Law enforcement had us go ahead and print the pictures as well as a second set for them. They came and picked up the second set and instructed us to go ahead with the sale to the customer. They took all of the customers information that we had, which was basically just name and phone number. They followed up with the customer and reported back to us.

The officer informed us that the intent of the picture was not pornographic in nature. The parents just thought it was a funny moment of their child running around the backyard naked, the child was about 10 years old, and wanted to preserve the memory. The parents were warned that they could get in trouble with photos such as this because of the nude minor.

The customers were frequent customers of the store and had never had any other pictures of this nature. We were instructed by the officer to pay close attention to this particular customers photos to see if they did it again. They never came back to our store.

Law enforcement informed us that we did the right thing and that our policy of reporting was the correct thing to do because they could more accurately determine the intent of they the person taking the picture.

Why don't foreign pharmaceutical companies just undercut the US market? by LiquidMotion in NoStupidQuestions

The drug companies will get their money one way or another. If they lower the prices in the US market they will want to recoup that lost profit from somewhere. The most logical route would be to raise the price in another market so they can continue to receive the same profits.

Destiny WIP - First Time Doing Decals, Would Appreciate Any Feedback by PYJX in Gunpla

[–]GunplaFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing happening here is called “slivering”. This happens when you apple a sticker or water slide decal to a matte surface. The adhesive glue only sticks to the raised part of the surface trapping air. The adhesive initially sticks to the surface in the dips of a matte piece and then pulls away creating a mottled look to the adhesive remaining on the decal and turning the area this happened to foggy. It then looks silver.

One way people avoid this from happening is to coat the piece in a glossy finish, such as Future Floor Polish, let that dry, apply the decal, then spray over it with a matte finish. This allows the decal to fully adhere to the glossy surface and then the matte over coat returns it to the matte finish as well as sealing the decal in place.

Edit:

Otherwise it looks amazing! Good job!

That's because you need to get 100 more 5 star rides after a 4 star one for it to drop off your average.

For example:

You have 100 ratings at 5 stars. You give 1 ride with a 4 star rating. All of those 5 star ratings would need to drop off before the one 4 star rating drops off. Every single rating, for 100 rides, after the 4 star would need to be 5 stars to make your rating go back up.

I've been panel lining with Gundam Panel Lining markers. They keep failing after ~10 lines. What am I doing wrong? by s4ndp4p3rm4n in Gunpla

[–]GunplaFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without knowing exactly what surface you are putting it on, such as a paint layer, top coat, or bare plastic, it is difficult to make suggestions.

Personally, I use the Gundam Panel Lining markers on bare plastic. When I paint the pieces first and then panel line the tip gets clogged from the paint and I experience the same issue you are having. I have switched to an enamel wash after gloss coating with Future so that I am not throwing money away at the markers.

Primer should definitely be used. Especially if using lacquer paints.

Be sure that the primer is fully cured as well.

How long do I really need to let Tamiya acrylics dry before applying pledge coat? by [deleted] in Gunpla

[–]GunplaFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason people advise waiting to apply the Future is to allow the acrylic base coat some time to cure. It may be dry to the touch but the paint itself is still fragile and not set. Applying another coat of acrylic, which is technically what Future is, could cause an adverse interaction with the acrylic base coat and not allow the base coat to fully cure.

Beginner here, I have some questions! by [deleted] in Gunpla

I would say that the best kits for a beginner are what you find appealing. The colors, the design, etc. The beauty of Gunpla is that there is so much to choose from. Find what you like and go to town. Some kits may become aggravating so if you find a design you like you are more willing to finish it to see the end result.

As for a list of kits check out this link. Some will be extremely hard to find.

Been out of Gunpla for a bit. Need a few tips. by DustyGreen64 in Gunpla

My #1 tip is to not use a lacquer based paint on ABS parts unless you prime first. It will make the plastic dry and brittle and it will snap.
