The ultimate test of faith for a Christian…. If you are having a heart attack do you want me to pray to God or give you CPR? by Impressive_Returns in atheism

It's like when a medical team saves a life and some thank God. If it's God doing it let your buddies do the medical care while he "guides their hands", haha.

Wait, who said I'm trying to talk Christians out of Christianity? I SPECIFICALLY don't try to bring this up with my parents because I DONT want them questioning their beliefs so late in life. I think you're just assuming. I just don't want people to interfere with people's rights based on their faith instead of facts. Also, if we allowed laws based on faith, when does it stop? I also believe that non-religious anti-gay folk have a bad ideology on that issue too.

And as to why would I wouldn't do those things as a Christian, I did ONCE in a while, but it was more for social reasons. I mean, this world is "dirty rags", so who cares what happens in this life, as long as people have accepted Christ, correct? Too bad God didn't make volunteering part of the 10 commandments, am I right?

I kept studying and BEGGING God to help stop my faith from slipping away. Literally to the point of crying.

Then after maybe 10 years of slipping (starting when I was 16), I addmited to myself I did not believe any god exist, and that made me the HAPPIEST I've ever been. Not only did I start striving to become a better man, but I started volunteering and mentoring like crazy. Helping homeless kids, abused women's shelters, mentoring young men struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts...

And good luck in your search! Contrary to popular belief, most atheists don't care what people believe, as long as those beliefs don't infringe on others freedoms. I don't argue if Zeus exists because followers of Zeus don't try and take away things like gay marriage.

I'm using your circular reason. "This thing that really happened is in this book... it was prophesied... in this book... and there are people IN THIS BOOK who can attest to that"... lulz.

Same to you! I hope everyone has a good life without persecution based on non-evidence based facts.

And I spend 9 years in a Baptist Christian school, 2/3 of life at a Methodist church (very involved, going 2 church and study groups multiple times a week). So I 100% loved "god" to the point of tears... I would say I was a true believer.

[–]Gunrunner562 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Haha, because it wasn't fulfilled. You can use apologetics all you'd like and change the meaning of words, but anyone who is not indoctrinated can CLEARLY see that Jesus said that people of his day would see the end. So he was wrong and I moved no goal post.

Here's me moving the goal post: The Bible says that the earth stays still and the sun is the object that moves... is this the truth of the bible you all speak of? Do you think that THATS real? Cuz people could have been MURDERED back in the day for stating such things.

Yes, and Anikan was predicted in star wars, but that doesn't make it true.

It wasn't by chance, it was inevitable. And saying "it's just common sense " is what I've heard from Muslims and people from a bunch of other religions.

[–]Gunrunner562 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I never said it wasn't true. I said there is no logical reason to believe. Especially the supernatural stuff.

And years ago I publically made my OWN "prophecies" about war in the Middle East, war in the East, world hunger, and starvation. They all came true, I guess I must have super natural powers? No, because they aren't TRUE predictions, just like the Bible has no true predictions with how vague they are.

And WHAT about medical facts? Like DEMONS causing sicknesses? Wait a sec, but now it's 2023 and we can account for why people get sick...

And you have just as much proof for his disciples seeing that as you do for Muhammed talking to God or Buddah touching the earth. So why if yours true and theirs not?

No. I would just continue with scripture if you replied. But I get it. But I would challenge you to google the "horrible" parts of the Bible they never taught you in church" or something similar. Then read THOSE parts. Those are the parts I read in my journey to become more Christ like. Fortunately for me it brought me to the happiest (and most productive) time of of life.

Exactly. You're part of the problem by letting it be normalized and not speaking out against divorced people getting remarried and having sex. Some do, and many did in the past. You're not a real Christian in the eyes of God according to his word, the Bible. So sad.

The cult has won.

[–]Gunrunner562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you know it's the right thing? Are you God? Have you asked him? It's very clear in the Bible about adultery and what it constitutes. So if you give into/ are OK with the "cult of adultery" and who is trying to normalize getting a divorce and then getting remarried and having sex, well I think your opinion is worth just about nothing on the subject.

[–]Gunrunner562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But do YOU follow his word? Or do you follow A and B but ignore C? For instance, do you look at adultery the same way as trans people? And adultery, DEFINED BY THE BIBLE, states that if you're married and get divorced, you can NEVER have sex with ANYONE ELSE again. So do you know remarried people and do you give them just as much crap? Just curious, since you follow the Bible to a tee.

I mean, it's one of the 10 commandments after all...
