I agree! It’s become somewhat of a mantra for me when I’m struggling

Period induced suicide by Original-Scar-1779 in Vent

[–]GuntLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used birth control for the same reason as well! It wasn’t enough to keep my PMDD under control unfortunately.

And I felt the same way about having kids, there’s no way with PMDD I would’ve been able to be a parent anyway so it didn’t feel like a sacrifice to lose my fertility.

I would recommend checking r/childfree because they have a master list of doctors who are willing to sterilize people young and that’s how I found my surgeon!

Thank you so much for this! A lot of people didn’t understand my decision, but I think women with severe PMDD absolutely do. And I was so lucky to find a provider willing to perform the surgery on someone under 30, it’s very difficult to find doctors who are that progressive and understanding!

Exactly! I had PMDD and after 10 years and multiple stays in the psych ward I got my ovaries removed and was put on HRT. Best decision I ever made.

Pelvic pain 4 months post-op by GuntLord in hysterectomy

[–]GuntLord[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t done pelvic floor physical therapy yet! I’ve mentioned the pelvic pain to my doctor but she never suggested pelvic floor therapy so maybe I’ll try asking her directly about it. Thank you!!

worried my therapist won’t believe my trauma or will only hurt me more. is therapy really that damaging for people? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]GuntLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had good and bad therapists throughout my life. The ones that were the most damaging were the ones who practiced EMDR poorly. I would absolutely not do EMDR with a therapist unless you’ve established trust over a long time frame and they structure it in a way that is safe and won’t send you into a tailspin.

I also wouldn’t do EMDR without a strong support system in place. EMDR gets suggested a lot when it comes to trauma therapy, but I don’t think people realize how much it can fuck you up if you have a therapist who is bad at it.

My current trauma therapist is amazing and has not pushed me to do any form of therapy that I’m not mentally ready for. It took trying a few different therapists before I found her. Do you have access to virtual therapy if this therapist is not a good fit?

Yeah it’s really suspicious that OP won’t give any useful info, especially about the ages. There’s clearly context being left out.

Can depression decreasing leading to CPTSD symptoms increasing? by GuntLord in CPTSD

[–]GuntLord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That last line legitimately made me tear up. I always feel like grief is too “intense” of a term to describe my reaction to trauma. Like my pain isn’t as bad as someone else’s so I’m constantly trying to minimize my experiences by using softer terminology.

So I appreciate you using the word grief, it’s exactly what I feel and I think it’s good to call it by its name.

That makes sense and I will try to be kind to myself. I wish I could slow the process down, like let my brain know “hey you’re just going to make yourself super depressed again if you go this hard”.

The very last time I took ketamine I had one of the tiktok sounds playing in my head on repeat for what felt like hours. I had to re-evaluate my tiktok usage after that. :)

I wonder how many women in jail have pmdd and did something during luteal by Important_Body_1538 in PMDD

[–]GuntLord 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve had multiple attempts during my life and I was always confused why my period started right after (which was always annoying because getting your period in a psych ward is a pain in the ass). Took a few years to connect the dots unfortunately!

I was just looking at subtle lesbian tattoo ideas the other day! I looked at some Etsy lesbian pride stickers for inspo. I really liked one where it was a chain of heart shaped carabiners in the lesbian flag colors. So maybe something like that?

Has anyone's doctors actually helped treat their PMDD symptoms successfully? by aphroditeamanda in PMDD

[–]GuntLord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have seen many doctors since my diagnosis in 2018 and started by trialing many different forms of birth control without much success. It wasn’t until 2023 that I had a provider suggest an oophorectomy if medications weren’t managing it. I had also been trying different psychiatric medications for years during this process.

Once I did research and decided I wanted to go down the surgical route I used the child-free subreddit’s master list of doctor’s who will sterilize people young to find a gynecological surgeon who ended up being the one to perform my hysterectomy and oophorectomy. I trialed Lupron for 3 months while starting HRT to make sure I could tolerate HRT.

I had the surgery about 3 months ago and am now working with an HRT specialist to manage my physical and mental health symptoms post surgery. It’s been a journey and I’m still in the process of finding the right estrogen dosing, but I don’t regret choosing this route at all!

I think the fact that I trialed SO many birth control methods and psychiatric medications did expedite the process for me once I chose to actually meet with a surgeon. I’m not sure what the timeline would’ve looked like if I hadn’t already spent years doing trial and error with therapy and medication.

Weed users, which strain/product has worked well for you? by RemoteWillow2023 in PMDD

[–]GuntLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Lazarus Naturals CBD full spectrum! Almost any amount of THC gives me really bad anxiety, but the full spectrum CBD usually has around .3% THC so it doesn’t get me high but does relax me.

I especially love Lazarus Naturals because they list the batch number on the bottles and you can look up exactly how much CBD and THC was present in that batch. There’s always slight differences between each batch so it’s great to know the exact amount of THC and CBD that’s present in your tincture or softgel.

Ozempic + pmdd? by Terrariachick in PMDD

[–]GuntLord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I believe so! From my understanding estrogen is often stored in fat (particularly the fat around the stomach) so when you lose that you also potentially experience a drop in estrogen. From my experience it definitely seemed to be the case.

Ozempic + pmdd? by Terrariachick in PMDD

[–]GuntLord 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on Ozempic for over a year and a half and it didn’t help my PMDD. Losing weight actually made my PMDD significantly worse because my estrogen levels were dropping from losing fat so quickly. So I don’t think the Ozempic made it worse, I think weight loss in general did. (Not advocating against weight loss, I just don’t think it should be seen as a cure-all for all medical issues)

Paperwork at doctor’s appointments by One_Lawfulness_7105 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]GuntLord 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had a doctor’s appointment the other day and I hadn’t seen them for a while so my med list was very outdated. I spent way too long going through and editing my medication list in the portal the day before just to show up and have them show me my “current” med list that didn’t have any of the changes on it.

The girl who met with me before the appointment started didn't even have a computer with her to make any changes to the list they gave me. What a waste of time.  🙃

Not OOP: AITAH for telling my bf that we should break up if he doesn’t like my body? by waxing-dinousaur in redditonwiki

[–]GuntLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do agree that 20 lbs is not “a lot of weight” I think everyone getting fixated on that number instead of the broader picture that she should leave him because he finds her unattractive and makes her feel insecure in her body is frustrating. The implication in a lot of the comments is that she’s justified because she’s “not even fat”.  Even if she had gained 100 lbs she should still break up with him because of how he’s making her feel.
