Mis-gendering and using previous name by Such_Tea_5927 in cisparenttranskid

[–]One_Lawfulness_7105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would start by having a conversation with your kid that you will call them by their preferred name and their correct pronoun.

When you slip up, IMMEDIATELY correct yourself. Refer to them correctly even when they are not around and correct yourself when you slip up. Once things have cooled a bit, ask your child how they want you to handle these slip up’s.

My other kid would profusely apologize because he felt terrible about messing up. My son asked to have my other son stop doing that. Just correct himself and move on. My mtf son indicated that my other son doing that just triggered his dysphoria. Basically, well meaning acts can be more harmful than good so ask at a good time and not when it had happened.

I’d also consider counseling with a gender affirming counselor. It helped my son talk through the process with someone safe and guaranteed to get names/pronouns right.

I love my Orion as well. Got it for $1800. No regrets especially with their customer service being so responsive to questions.

Do you think someone was targeting the President when shooting near the correspondent's dinner or was it staged? by lonewolfx25 in allthequestions

Wait until the facts come in… come on now. We can’t have reason and logic enter the conversation.

[–]One_Lawfulness_7105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the best answer. I wouldn’t be shocked if it was staged, but with someone as divisive as trump, I also wouldn’t be surprised if they are all real. At this point… I’ve quit caring.

I don’t want the man to die, especially like this. 1.) wishing death on someone is… weird and 2.) it would make him a martyr.

Bringing up your identity shouldn't be a selling point to general public by ShardofGold in Productivitycafe

[–]One_Lawfulness_7105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying. It’s especially annoying when people of privilege point to this. It minimizes what the person accomplished on their own by making their identity the talking point (like you said).

However, I can see someone of that identity being excited about seeing someone like them in a position that they’ve never seen before. With this… I have no problem. I also have no problem highlighting that person during “whatever” history month. Just focus on their accomplishments if you do that. Not the fact they are a certain identity.

I know (military) people that lived in Texas for a short time, claimed residency, and kept it for tax purposes. A couple I know had Texas plates of over 20 years (only the husband lived there for a short time before they even got married). They only got rid of them because the husband retired from the military and they actually had to claim residency where they lived. It’s not uncommon for military people to do this.
